The Murkowski campaign is creating some pre-launch buzz about her reentering the Alaska Senate Campaign next week for a no holds barred three way race.
Alaska Senator Could Announce Revived Candidacy
She could announce a resurrected candidacy as soon as next week.
"It’s going to be the kind of campaign you should have seen in the primary," said Andrew Halcro, an Alaska political consultant who is a longtime friend of the senator. "It’s going to be no-holds-barred, pedal-to-the-metal stuff."
In Alaska, where everything outside the Last Frontier has long been called just that — "Outside" — the boundaries are suddenly getting blurry as candidates, and the Republican Party, reverse roles.
The Republican Party is lining up with Joe," Randy DeSoto, a spokesman for Mr. Miller, wrote in an e-mail late Wednesday. "I’m sure Senator Murkowski will as well."
Say it ain't so, Joe!
A three way race would blur the sharp distinctions between Scott McAdams and and Joe Miller in a two way race, with many independent anti-Miller voters going up for grabs between McAdams and Murkowski. I think splitting the anti-Miller wave will present a bigger problem for McAdams to overcome than it could for Murkowski. McAdams will still have a unified Democratic Party behind him which is more than you'll be able to say for Miller or Murkowski should she decide to go ahead and take the plunge. Murkowski with a million dollars in the bank has a lot more money than McAdams, and I suspect more than Miller as well, (unless the Kock suckers throw down bigtime, and their money did boost Miller in the primary). Lastly Murkowski would have to mount a write in campaign with all the problems that entails, effectively raising the bar for her to win.
Here's Scott McAdams ActBlue page where 1,741 Supporters have raised $153,752 That's 10 times the amount that was up there the day after the primary. Scott's fund-raising is off to a good start, but there's still much more to do.
