No, there has not been a formal vote taken. There does not need to be. Take a look at the recommended diaries. As I write this, five out of the ten recommended diaries are about aspects of the investigations into voting fraud or voting suppression.
I believe that the Kossacks have shown their wisdom here. There are a lot of important issues, but nothing that we do will matter if we can't get a fair count at the polls and if our voters don't get an opportunity to vote that is equal with the other side's voters.
At this point, it is quite clear that there was a great deal of voter suppression in the election, assuming that you consider an inadequate number of voting machines that result in 3, 4 - even 7 hour lines in heavily democratic districts to be a form of voter suppression. I do.
It is also quite clear, beyond ANY doubt, that there are unexplained voting irregularities, like the 4,000 extra votes for Bush in Ohio. Nobody has proved fraud YET - but there are highly suggestive indications of fraud, and I personally believe that clear evidence of voting fraud will be found. Whether it will be enough to overcome Bush's lead in a state that will make a difference - Ohio or Florida - is not yet clear, and the odds are probably against us. But it is still CRITICAL that this all be brought out -- if not, we might as well concede the next election, and the one after that, as well.
I am not going to knock Kos for his decision to not play this issue on the front page at this point - the diaries are also on the front page, and he has given us this forum to use for this purpose and it is being used quite effectively, in my view.
For those of us who are on the "Fraud Beat" - we ARE making a difference. We've helped get folks to contribute to BBV, for example, and it looks like they may have the first big breakthrough. Let's keep on keeping on, we are doing something extremely important!
