We've had some bigwig visits recently.
Congreswoman Jan Shakowsky showed up to do some calls and give us a pep talk. I'd never heard of her before but she definitely impressed me. I think Dean's campaign has the ability (once it becomes the official leader of the party) to really bind the party together again through the internet and the grassroots. Zell Miller might not think we're a national party and Howard Dean's the reason why. I think Zell Miller's got his head up George W. Bush's ass. The only way we're going to become a national party is the Dean model (see: Tom Boswell, etc.). The Zell Model (i.e. Bitching and moaning to Sean Hannity) might work for Republicans, but it isn't going to get Democrats elected.
The other bigwig visit was Howard the Dean himself today. Great turnout from what I heard. Gephardt people and Kerry people had oppo visibility (pathetic? uh-huh. desperate? you betcha.). Gephardt put an anti-Dean oped from the WaPo under our people's windshields to greet them when they came out. Classy. Despite rumors that Dean's day off was due to a nervous breakdown, Howard was apparently in prime form, laughing and joking with an energized (and overflow) crowd. I missed it. I spent the day reorganizing the supply closet and doing my laundry.
That reminds me. I've got to go pick it up.
