Aug 29, 2005, 2:24 PM
In a bid to stop the Attorney General's investigation into his administration's merit hiring practices, Governor Ernie Fletcher will announce pardons for those involved in the investigation , according to 27 NEWSFIRST Political Reporter Bill Bryant.
Bryant reports those sources would not confirm if Fletcher is pardoning everyone associated with the hiring investigation or if he will pardon himself.
Fletcher has scheduled a 6 pm speech from the State Capitol Rotunda at which he is expected to announce the pardon's. A Fletcher spokesperson would not comment directly on the content of the speech except to say "that you'll want to be there."
Fletcher lost a bid earlier this afternoon in Franklin Circuit Court to delay his testimony, scheduled for Tuesday, before the special Grand Jury investigating the merit allegations.
