Here's the low-down on how Stefani Carter, a Republican, was caught plagiarizing from President Obama's famous 2004 speech, as reported by The Lone Star Report:
When House District 102 Republican nominee Stefani Carter gives her stump speech, her style and cadence seem oddly familiar, especially coming from a first time candidate. Not only are Carter’s theme and tone similar to Barack Obama’s 2004 keynote address to the Democratic National Convention, several lines are virtually identical.
That's not the only thing that she's done that has been very highly questionable. For more, please check out www.CounterfeitCarter.com!
Now, her campaign has grown just as hostile as it is absurd. She’s lobbed a plainly ridiculous and frivolous complaint against her opponent, State Representative Carol Kent. Maybe most appalling of all, Carter recently sent over a campaign operative to stalk through parking lots and video-record Representative Kent and her supporters.
Frankly, we’re not even sure what to make of this:
"There's also the bizarre accusations by Carter that she had to call 911 twice because of suspicious vehicles parked at her campaign headquarters."
-(Dallas Morning News, Dallas County Races Taking Shape, September 7, 2010)
Is this truly a case of paranoia? Or is this just another desperate, win-at-any-cost ploy to help her get herself elected? Carter’s strange and amateurish campaign represents everything that frustrates Texans at either end of the political spectrum.
Whatever the case, people are noticing Counterfeit Carter’s embarrassingly amateur campaign and sucker punch politics – just not in the way she would like.
By now, it should come as no surprise to learn that Carter’s own employers have endorsed her opponent, Representative Kent. That’s right; Stefani "Counterfeit" Carter couldn’t even win over the support of her own bosses.
Republican Stefani Carter, a lawyer at the Sayles Werbner law firm in Dallas, won't have the support of her bosses in the District 102 House race.
The firm's co-founders, Richard "Dick" Sayles and Mark Werbner, have endorsed Democrat and incumbent Carol Kent for the seat. They have also given Kent campaign donations.
And now, what did Carter have to say about her bosses endorsing her opponent? See below to see what her response was:
Carter said the endorsement of Kent by her bosses is not surprising because Dick Sayles and Mark Werbner are "liberal Democrats." She said they have not changed their political views despite her best efforts.
So far, everything about Counterfeit Carter’s candidacy has been a disaster. It’s scary to imagine what she might do if she were actually elected.
