First I respond to the Bull Moose today, and I will post the link and snips after my comments.
We "Deaniacs" never claimed to be "left-wing." As far as being the "Democratic Wing," we were far closer to being that than the ones who were busy calling us fringe activists back in 2003.
As far as being the "heart and soul" of the party, we were far closer than the corporate wing of the party to standing for traditional party values.
I am proud of the Pew Study which you seemed to be using to justify something or other you believe about us. I still am smarting from your kool-aid remarks last year. I am proud of that study because it shows exactly what we were trying to tell people about us.
We tried to tell people were not that far left, not that fringe thing that was attributed to us. We tried to tell people we were older and educated and mature. I feel very good about that study, Bull Moose. I am one of those Deaniacs, and I represent the mainstream of the party far more than the group for which you speak.
All that said, we agree with you on one thing. It takes two wings to fly. We have not had those two wings for a long time, so help us develop them now. Speaking to us in a chiding tone is not helping. It angers, and it hurts. We are the activists of the party, not your wing. Both are needed, but let's have no more "do no harm" comments from your wing, please.
The Latte Wing
QUOTE:.."The Moose notes that there is now persuasive evidence that Deaniacs were suffering under the severe delusion that they represented the "Democratic wing of the Democratic Party."
A Pew Survey that was released yesterday provides a fascinating portrait of supporters of the Dean campaign. It undercuts all of those self-righteous claims that it was the Deaniacs who were the genuine tribunes of the Democrats battling against those evil forces who would transform the party into "Republican lite". They have about as much in common with the Democratic mainstream as Tom Delay has with Christie Todd Whitman...."
QUOTE:..."At the end of the day, it will take a coalition of lefties and moderates for the Democrats to prevail. But this valuable Pew survey should put an end to the suggestion that the lefties are the ideologically pure representatives of the rank and file of the Democratic Party.
The Moose avers that it takes two wings to fly."
