I'm thinking Dean is doing more for Democrats (and the country) in his position as DNC chairman than he could have as president. I still would have preferred him to Bush but I'm glad we got him in a position to wake everybody up and get the party going. I'm hoping his re-vitalization will be similar to what the Republicans did in 1992, not just get a bit of power in the government but to get the country in the Democrat frame of mind of helping the whole country, not just the big businesses and special interests.
The media of the right is trying to sweep this into the "there goes crazy Howard Dean again" pile but I like that a politician is finally saying what the rest of us have been saying since Bush came into office. I'm even digging the yell he gave back in 2003; I think that's a good catch phrase he can make a play off of every time he sends a zinger into the GOP's gut that exposes them for what they are.
Atrios linked a story of his recent inflammatory comments at the Rainbow-PUSH coalition conference:
"Congressman Jackson doesn't have to speak for me -- but the truth is you don't get to speak for me either," said Howard Dean, Democratic National Committee Chairman.
Dean was blasting a reporter for trying to pin him down on his position on the extension of the voting rights act.
"The chairman of the Republican Party has made a big deal out of attracting African-American voters. This is a litmus test. If you don't support the extension of the Voting Rights Act, you don't have the right to walk into a black church and show your face,"
"My view is FOX News is a propaganda outlet for the Republican Party and I don't comment on FOX News," Dean said. That was in response to vice president Dick Cheney calling Howard Dean "over the top" on Fox News on Sunday.
YEEEAAAGGHHHH!!!!
