My office is being invaded today. Two locations were merged to one, so what was once just me is now us three. But that's ok, now I have a television. Anyway, since lots of new people are being integrated, we had to have a phone guy come and do all the phones.
MSNBC happened to be on in our office, and good ol' Scotty was on the TV. I noticed the phone guy shaking his head all disgusted like, as was I. I always like to take advantage of the opportunity to rant along with a fellow Bush hater, so I made some comment along the lines of "God, this cronyism is just disgusting"..
and he replied with " Yeah, who the heck is this woman? Single, never married, no kids...".
Not exactly the arguments I would have raised, but ok. He just continued on a tirade about how how scary the situation is becoming in this country. Then came the line that made me wince, and yet rejoice at the same time. "Now, I'm a conservative republican and I feel this way."
At first I was just disgusted because I've grown to actually despise republicans lately. I don't like the deep selfishness of the party, I never have, but hating republicans (outside of politicians) is new as of the re election. But then I was happy about it.
Why was I happy? Because there is a way for us to get through to the rational portions of the party. And a lot of them are coming around on their own. They realize that the economy is on its way to collapse. Just like my ranting phone guy, they fear the rising interest rates, the lessening value of the dollar, and the ability of other countries (namely China in the phone guys case) to screw us royally at the drop of a hat by raising the interest rates on our loans.
Why don't all republicans see this though? Why don't they look at the numbers, look at where we're headed and say "WHOA"....slow down W... you're really fucking us over.
Are they truly brain dead? Do they really believe the talking points? Or is there some other reason for this, some other rationale??
Ok, now that I'm done hating on these people, I have a question for anyone who happens to read this. My ranting phone guy mentioned something about 180,000,000 of our debt being held by some unknowns in the Caribbean...anyone know anything about this?
