I thought this need looked into. Why is a Chinese woman sitting jail today? Also why is it that on the Yahoo news page the first 5 or 6 stories on this come from Blog and foreign press, not mainstream America? Why is it CNN had no problem with the Chinese government cutting the story from their broadcast in China? Here's the big question. Why is this administration targeting all of the communist countries, and dictators, but not China? Could it be that China holds so much interest in the U.S. that they don't dare say anything? It is common knowledge that China holds most of the Debt occurred by this administration, and that if they were to call in at least half of it, things could go south real quick. The trade deficit is staggering when you look at it. In a Fox News story, in February of 2006 the government released a report showing that the U.S. deficit hit a whopping 725.8 billion in 2005. This was due to higher oil prices paid to the Middle East and consumers buying up Chinese goods.
A huge chunk of the deficit was with China alone. The trade shortfall with that country increased 24.5 percent to a record $201.6 billion. Imports of consumer and industrial goods like clothing, computers, televisions, toys, furniture, chemicals and engines from China hit a record $243.5 billion, swamping record U.S. exports to China of $41.8 billion.
I guess the Chinese aren't importing the manufactured Hamburgers like we are their cheap slave labor products. Only the Bush administration could spin this to be a positive thing.
Bush administration officials, while agreeing the deficit should be reduced, argue it partly reflects stronger economic growth in the United States than abroad
China's Human Rights [they have none]
REPORT
As President Bush welcomed Chinese President Hu Jintao to the White House on Thursday, their arrival ceremony was interrupted by a protester who appealed to President Bush to stop Hu from 'persecuting the Falun Gong,' a banned religious movement in China.
According to the report, the woman began shouting from the top of a camera stand located directly in front of Hu and Bush, yelling 'President Bush, stop him from killing'... 'Stop persecuting the Falun Gong,' She also shouted in Chinese, 'President Hu, your days are numbered, No more time for China's ruling party.'
The woman was quickly taken away by uniformed secret service officers.
My understanding of Falun Gong is that it is a form of Buddhism.
Falun Dafa
Falun Gong (also called Falun Dafa) is an ancient form of qigong, the practice of refining the body and mind through special exercises and meditation. Like tai chi, qigong is a vital part of many people's lives in Asia; almost every Chinese park is brimming by the break of dawn with people practicing these arts.
Only a few years after its public introduction in 1992, Falun Dafa quickly grew to become the most popular form of qigong ever in Chinese history. The major reason for this is that Falun Dafa distinguishes itself from other qigong practices by emphasizing not only physical cultivation, but also cultivation of one's moral character in daily life according to higher principles taught by Mr. Li Hongzhi, Falun Dafa's founder.
(Sounds a little like Scientology, doesn't it?) Not that it matters, all humans should be able to practice their religion, as long as it does not harm those around them.
Of course we know that religion is a big no-no in China. From my grade school-days I remember being told that in China You first allegiance is to the state. You know sort-of what Bush's PNAC agenda calls for. Thank-God we only have about 25% who think that way. Or is it More!
The Resident also seemed to be backing away from the stance the U.S. has taken on Taiwan in the past. One that fond the United States defending Taiwan if attacked by China.
Hu in a press conference in the Oval Office let Chinas stance on the issue of Taiwan's independence be known. Article
"We have the utmost sincerity, and we will do our utmost with all sincerity to strive for the prospect of peaceful reunification," he said. "This being said, we will by no means allow Taiwan independence."
I am ignorant when it comes to the subject of China wanting to hold on to Taiwan, I just don't understand what the reasoning is. Could it be that they don't have enough mouths to feed? Do they really need Taiwan's 22,894,384 citizens, or is it that they need more cheap electronics? Ah, I know it's that female shortage thing, right?
Rant
Ok, the title is "Why is Bush Apologizing to China?" Maybe I should have called it, "Why Ain't He Apologizing To US?" Bush and PNAC have totally sold this country to the Highest Bidder. It doesn't matter what country it is, if they have the preferred color they get it. The port scandal brought this to the light of day like nothing else. To outsource the security of the country to another country is just Down Right Treasonous.
Then to declare that the country is under attack, and to tell the people that we can be hit at any minute by terrorist, while leaving the borders stand open so that you can use it as a scare tactic to keep the citizenry in line, and help setup anything that you might have coming down the pike later, is also an act of treason. Shall I go on?
When tax incentives are given for corporations to move from the country to avoid paying taxes, and too set up a sweatshop in another country, while dodging environmental laws that they would have to deal with in this country. When giving tax cuts to these same people, while saying that it will help the same economy you are destroying, and causing conditions to worsen for the people of The United States, then I say these are treasonous acts and should be dealt with as such. Got that G.W.?
