My Bush-Cheney Charter membership card came in the mail today. The card honors me for my past support and recognizes the critical role I will play in the President's 2004 reelection campaign.
Some highlights from Marc Racicot:
- My card is a symbol of the commiittment I supposedly share with W "to make our nation safe from terrorism, to expand opportunities and create jobs for all Americans seeking to realize the American Dream and to improve education and strengthen families so that no child is left behind."
- All I have to do is to let my buddy Marc know that I "will stand by the President by returning the enclosed Receipt Verification form along with your special contribution of $1,000, $500, $250, $100, $50, $35 or even $25."
- They need my hard earned cash because "special interest groups have already massed a war chest of over $200 million and vow to spend half a billion dollars to defeat our President. ...George Soros, a far left activist who has compared President Bush to a Nazi, has given $15 million and has said he would spend his entire $7 billion fortune if it would guarantee President Bush loses in 2004."
- Marc thinks my support is critical.
- Something I didn't know, but Marc clears it up for me: did you know that the Democrats' "rhetoric against our President has amounted to little more than political hate speech."? And that "Democratic candidates have likened our President to a terrorist, a felon, a segregationalist and called him a miserable failure. John Kerry went so far as to compare President Bush to Sadam Hussein when he called for regime change in the United States."?
- And I didn't know it, but Marc assures me that "President Bush has made great progress for America in three short years. From leading a global crusade against terrorism to signing into law two of the largest tax custs in history, to education reform, to strengthening our national and homeland security, to modernizing Medicare, he has provided strong, steady leadershp during difficult times."
So that's their story. And I'm starting to see ads out here in Los Angeles.
In a way I'm relieved. If I am part of their much-vaunted database, then we Democrats may have already won. And if they are laudng me for all I've done for BushCo (like vote for Gore, support Clark, donate to Kerry), then the repugs might be more of a paper tiger than they are made out to be in the SCLM.
