It's hard to write this since people are
still freaking dying, but the fact is that people need to start thinking about this to preserve the rights of the survivors.
Will these people make it back to Mississippi or Louisiana before the election in 2006? Will this administration interfere with their voting rights?
I think the answers in order are, "not all," and "you betcha."
We talk about holding this administration accountable. But the people who are first in line to hold this administration accountable are the people this administration ignored for nearly a week. We owe it to them to make sure their voting rights are preserved.
I'm not sure where to start though. Donating to groups that do voter registration would be a good idea. Pressuring Democrats to pay attention to voter rights might be another idea.
Any other ideas?
