The new jobs numbers is certainly a very positive development for BushCo. Now I have my skepticism about what the number means, particularly as the unemployment rate went UP. (the rule of thumb apparently was 150k job growth needed to stay even with growth in the work force).
So, I take this opportunity to forward my monocause - the issue of this election will be the War on Terror/Iraq Debacle/ National Security.
While Kerry will, in my view, carry an advantage on economic issues into November, it may not be as wide as once thought. In this context, it is essential that Kerry and Dems hammer Bush on his failings in the War on Terror and the Iraq Debacle.
The lack of ambiguity in this failure - the facts are clear - makes this a very very potent issue if properly framed. At the very least, the latest news makes clear that an approach which attempts to deemphasize the Iraq/Terror issue is simply not tenable.
So what will be the dominant issue of the Campaign?
