I've been monitoring the Freepers since this whole Rove comment thing has started. One reason why is to see what articles they have been posting to attack democrats. A number of articles have come out and now it is time to alert Media Matters to end the distorations of the facts.
A little warning to all dailykos'ers you might need a shower after this post. Sorry for the long post, but I want you to see the pattern of lies these neo-cons are spreading in order to defend Karl Rove.

Not surprisingly Democratic liberals like our own Sen. John Kerry are making the most of their indignation. Kerry accused Rove of ``purposely twisting those days of unity in order to divide us for political gain.''
The sorry fact that Kerry refuses to face, however, is that Rove is right. Osama bin Laden was still on the loose, directing his terror network because the Clinton administration had done little more than indict the guy. Yes, really!

Democrats, however, are outraged. Taking the comments personally, six Democrats fired off a letter to President Bush asking for Mr. Rove's apology. Sen. John Kerry -- who last year promised to wage a "more sensitive" war on terror -- sent an e-mail to supporters asking them to sign a petition admonishing Mr. Rove for his "purposeful attack on the patriotism of those who dare ask the tough questions." Apparently, Democrats are just as determined to wage a war against terror as Republicans. Who knew? They might have a point if Mr. Rove had directed his remarks specifically at Democrats. Five of the six signatories of the letter did vote for war against Afghanistan; four against Iraq. Wiser Democrats clearly understand that the American people don't trust their party when it comes to national defense. There's no mystery why future presidential candidate Sen. Hillary Clinton, who voted for the both the Afghanistan and Iraq war, sits on the Foreign Relations Committee.
But Mr. Rove didn't address Democrats; he addressed liberals, specifically MoveOn.org and its like. For a party with a clear image problem, it seems counterproductive that they would rush to Mr. Moore's defense -- which, by their outrage, is essentially what they have done.
Image building aside, the reality is that the Democrats have embraced the "Michael Moore wing" of their party. Earlier this year, MoveOn.org invited the Senate's top Democrats -- Harry Reid, Ted Kennedy, Mrs. Clinton, Barbara Boxer, Dick Durbin and Charles Schumer -- to a rally. Last summer, the Democratic National Committee sat Mr. Moore right beside former President Jimmy Carter during the party's convention in Boston. And, lest we forget, it elected Howard Dean to be the party's chairman.
This is the side of the Democratic Party Americans see. Democrats should reread Mr. Rove's comments and realize that he was in fact diagnosing their problem. Instead, they have decided to act like hypocrites. Well played, Mr. Rove.

Rove's comments created a firestorm of criticism from the Democrats. Some called for his resignation, all called for an apology. According to the White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan, the President would not ask Rove to apologize. Communications Director Dan Bartlett said he was "not sure why" Democrats were outraged and found it "puzzling." Yet, the manufactured outrage from Democratic Senators such as Hillary Clinton and Chuck Schumer of New York served only to deflect attention from the legitimate controversy that erupted over the comments made by their Democratic colleague Senate Dick Durbin (D-Illinois). Durbin compared our interrogators at Guantanamo Bay to Nazis, Soviets and Dictator Pol Pot. It was an outrageous and traitorous comment that has given aid and comfort to our enemy. It also became a major story on the Al-Jazeera television network, allowing enemies of this country to whip up more anti-American passions.
Durbin finally made a half-hearted apology for his ridiculous comparison, but not before serious damage had been done. Where were Hillary Clinton and Chuck Schumer in the Durbin controversy? Were they leading the charge to have Durbin apologize? Of course not, and they are trying to damage Rove now only because of politics. This "outrage" is all about trying to politically injure President Bush and disrupt his anti-terrorism and Iraq agenda. Hillary and company want to make gains in the 2006 elections and take back the White House in 2008.
What Rove said was factually correct. The Clinton administration response to terrorist attacks against this county was incredibly weak. We had opportunities to forcefully respond after the U.S.S. Cole incident, the African embassy bombings and the 1993 World Trade Center attack, but we missed the chance to strike hard against terrorism and found legal prosecution the preferred method.
President George W. Bush has a different philosophy on responding to terrorist threats. Rove was merely stating the obvious in his speech Wednesday night. If Democrats don't like it, they shouldn't blast Rove; they should simply look in the mirror.

And now, your friends in high places are going to turn one of our most sacred sites - Ground Zero - into an anti-American theme park and YOU want an APOLOGY?
Apology?
Apology??
Apology???
Listen very carefully...
Considering what you have done you deserve to be locked up with the Islamist lunatics at GTMO with a soiled Quran and a rope around your necks, but we respected you, tried to reason with you, engage you, evoke a New Tone.
What has it gotten us?
A divided country and an emboldened enemy.
So now the right has blamed all democrats and called us traitors, they want to throw us in jail, they attack Clinton, Kerry, and Howard Dean. When will enough be enough? How much longer will we allow the neo-cons to spread their hate? Enough is enough contact media matters today. There is more out there, but I believe this shows the pattern they are using to defend Karl Rove.
