After the Nov 2004 elections, repugs and their talking heads were telling anyone who would listen (and a lot of people who didn't want to listen) that the
Democratic party was no longer relevant.
According to the talking heads, Dems were so eviscerated, demoralized, and had so few representatives in congress left, the repugs would be able to enact their agendas without opposition. The repugs claimed a "man date" for a conservative agenda, and claimed the elections proved the Dems had "lost touch with American values."
Fast Forward to today. An AP Story reports the White House blames all of bush's problems with his agenda on the Capitol Hill minority party - Democrats.
W.House launches second day of attacks on Democrats
The opening lede:
The White House accused Democratic leaders on Wednesday of obstructing President Bush's agenda in a second straight day of combative attacks against the minority party on Capitol Hill.
Dems seem to be obstructing the most in blocking bush's Social Security privatization non-proposal:
On Social Security in particular, Bush has called on Democrats to offer their own proposals instead of simply attacking his, but the tactic has largely not worked.
And my favorite, the closing paragraph says it all
Speaking to party loyalists on Tuesday night at a $23 million fund-raising dinner, Bush blamed "do-nothing" Democrats for holding up an overhaul of Social Security and delaying votes on his nominees to the federal bench and the United Nations
Not so bad for group of demoralized out-of-touch Democrats who have no power in government anymore.
I wonder how crow tastes.
