Damon is someone I worked with a few summers ago. It was a temp job that required a college degree, but had a certain "assembly line" quality to it. We were computers all day in a room full of potentially fascinating college-educated people, but rarely had much opportunity to get into long conversations. One time when the computers were down for a long time, I struck up a conversation with Damon, who sat at the terminal next to mine.
That was when I found out, among other things, that he had self-published a book of photography, entitled nmazca--an acronym for New Mexico, Arizona, and California. I found out he had a web site and blog with the same unusual name. Fascinating site which is an eclectic mix of politics and current events, astronomy/astrology, dharma, fractals and photography. I don't check in on the blog as often as I would like, but it is a fascinating place to explore. It's also a nice way to keep up with a friend who no longer lives here in Ohio, but has moved on to Seattle.
Except today, I discovered that he is not there right now. He's in Dohu--apparently teaching. Lots of interesting pictures of the local sites, as well as commentary. Clearly I have some catching up to do. Click here for the nmazca blog if you are interested in reading more from an American in Dohu.
