People are crying, that the leaking of the eavesdropping order signed by Bush was done to stop the signing of the bill making 15 sections of the Patriot Act permanent. If this was done by the New York times, I say good job.
One of the other rumors out there is that the leaking was timed with a book the author of the article had a book coming out. Either way, well done. Now as you all know, when it come s to the Patriot Act, or any infringement on our rights, I become vigilant. So if that's why they released the story when they did, well I am happy. Read on>>>>
There is another question that comes to mind though, why did they wait until after the election? We might no be going through this attempt and a dictator take over if they just would have put this out in the fall of 2004, but then again it might be worse. (Na)
This is just me talking, but at yesterdays press conference and in his other recent speeches, if you would have put a mustache on Bush, well you know where this is going. Remember the line, "This would be easier if this was a dictatorship, and I was the dictator." [Hum] seems that in his little bird brain Bush thinks he is above the law.
We have been quoting that Bush called the Constitution, A Goddamn piece of paper, but I wanted to check and see if this was a true statement, and I am sad to report it is. What makes it relly bad is the context that it was used in. Capitol Hill Blue Reported that during a meeting with the (P)Resident, GOP leaders brought up the fact that the sections on the Patriot Act, really do undermine the Constitution, well here is how it went according to three sources that were there.
GOP leaders told Bush that his hardcore push to renew the more onerous provisions of the act could further alienate conservatives still mad at the President from his botched attempt to nominate White House Counsel Harriet Miers to the Supreme Court.
"I don't give a goddamn," Bush retorted. "I'm the President and the Commander-in-Chief. Do it my way."
"Mr. President," one aide in the meeting said. "There is a valid case that the provisions in this law undermine the Constitution."
"Stop throwing the Constitution in my face," Bush screamed back. "It's just a goddamned piece of paper!"
Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, while still White House counsel, wrote that the "Constitution is an outdated document."
So like I said, it is a good thing that the New York Times released the "Eavesdropping Story" when they did, it made some set back and take a hard look at what this "Mad Hatter" thinks about the laws of the nation, and that he feels that he is above them. I bet every morning he puts on his little Hitler outfit, and has Laura salute him.
GOP Pulls a Quicky
In order to get the "Arctic Drilling Bill" passed the Republican leaders tacked a bill on to a defense spending bill that does not get to be debated. Now the Neo-Cons are crying, that this is the same way that Sen. John McCain got the "Anti-Torture Bill" passed. Does anyone see that, no torture good, tearing up wildlife preserve bad. Especially for a few drops of oil.
Also they cut the budget by 41.6 Billion dollars, cutting some essential programs along the way.
According to the Washington Post ,
The budget accord would cut less than one-half of 1 percent from a projected $14.3 trillion in federal spending over the next five years. Depending on the outcome of negotiations over as much as $60 billion in tax cuts, the savings in spending could vanish.
Congress, however, has not tried to slow the growth of entitlement programs such as Medicare, Medicaid and student loans for more than a decade. Extracting those cuts has been a politically painful process that has divided Republicans and kept Congress in session months after its once-scheduled Sept. 30 adjournment debate.
The poor babies had to miss their vacation.
