Hello. I'd like to introduce myself to the dailykos community. I am Andrew Horne, attorney and lieutenant colonel in the Marine Reserves, and I'm running to represent Kentucky's 3rd Congressional District in the United States House of Representatives.
Recently, I was stationed in the western-most sector of Anbar Province during Operation Iraqi Freedom, and I saw first hand how our civilian leaders have mismanaged the war.
I registered as an Independent voter 27 years ago when I enlisted in the Marines, but having seen how our elected leaders misled the American people into supporting their poorly planned war, I realized that one party was more truly aligned with my ideology.
Upon my return from Iraq I registered as a Democrat, and announced my pending retirement from the military so that I could next serve my country as a member of Congress.
In Congress, I will stand for independent thinking and for what's best for our people. Along with the other service veterans in the Band of Brothers, I hope to help change the culture of corporate influence in Washington today. I am going to fight for Kentucky, and for the rest of the United States. I will demand the accountability that is long past due.
I hope to oppose Rep. Anne Northup in November, but first I will face local publisher John Yarmuth, former rocket scientist and business owner James Walter Moore and another perennial candidate in a May primary. Neither of these elections will be a cakewalk for me, but they are both races that I can win.
Please visit my website, http://www.horneforcongress.com where you can read more about me, choose to donate, or volunteer for the campaign. If you live in the area, we're having an Open House at campaign headquarters tomorrow, Feb. 10, from 5pm-7pm, so come on by and say hi. I'd like to meet you and hear what you have to say.
Thank you for you consideration and support,
<>Andrew
