In what may be the ultimate in you just can make this crap up, freshman Senator Mark Kirk (R-IL), who as a congressman was one of eight Republicans to vote for climate change legislation, explains his flip-flop on the issue:
"The consensus behind the climate change bill collapsed and then further deteriorated with the personal and political collapse of Vice President [Al] Gore," Kirk told Greenwire.
Kirk didn't explain which perceived personal failing by a private citizen prompted his decision to base his legislative choices on something so moronic, and apparently the reporter didn't ask for an explanation.
What a welcome addition to "the world's greatest deliberative body."
