So I head over to CNN and their top story is
"U.S. to launch 24/7 search for bin Laden".
U.S. forces searching for al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden along the mountainous border between Pakistan and Afghanistan will soon implement high-tech surveillance tactics in the region, enabling them to monitor the area 24 hours a day, seven days a week, CNN has learned.
All I can say is, what the fuck.
Pardon my language, but why the hell haven't we been doing this since Sept. 12, 2001? Why hasn't every resource at the disposal of the richest, most powerful country in the world gone into this search?
This strikes me asan absolute travesty of planning and execution, one that ranks right up there with today's news abot Zarqawi. I can't think of a single good reason that this would have been delayed for so long. Except for one, that is: Iraq. Could it be that our resources are stretched too thin? Naaaaah.
Democrats need to hit on this issue hard. How many people have died because the search for bin Laden hasn't been fully prosecuted? How many people have died because we didn't take out Zarqawi when we had a chance? It cheapens the death of every solider, civilian and peace officer in Iraq when we don't do everything we can to bring the responsible parties of terror to justice. And if we can't do everything possible, then that's even more indicative of poor leadership on the part of our commander-in-chief.
So Bush is a war president, huh? Then let's take the fight to him. Let's hear one good reason why he hasn't done everything in his power to win the war. We can make this our issue. We're in this mess and it's time for a president who will do everything to get us out of it. I'm tired of hearing about these half-assed measures when our soldiers are still dying, and innocent Iraqis are getting blown up.
And I apologize: normally I don't post such inflammatory, profane diaries, but the Republicans have done a truly remarkable job of pissing me off the last couple days.
