Here it comes...

CNN is firing on all blasters with this story:
McCain camp rips Obama for cutting troop visit

Sen. John McCain's campaign Saturday lashed out at Sen. Barack Obama for canceling a visit to a U.S. military base in Germany on Thursday. Obama failed to fulfill a "responsibility to the men and women who serve this country," a McCain campaign spokesman said

mom's gonna show you right from wrong

Fri Jul 25, 2008 at 10:57:39 PM PDT

Like many I watched the CNN documentary Black in America; however, this diary is not about the documentary.  I had been intrigued by the young man that was doing the intro and ads for the CNN special. His words were so effective, insightful and  I found some more info about him on the website his name is Jon Goode.

He already had my attention but I was even more curious when I read:

"Kids will be kids
but moms will be moms,
you can do what you did
and mom's gonna show you
right from wrong."

McCain's Promise to Ignore Conditions on the Ground

Fri Jul 25, 2008 at 04:09:40 PM PDT

McCain's latest CNN interview shows his desperation as he confronts the fact that the American people AND the Iraqi people want American combat troops out, ON A TIMELINE.  What to do?  Well, his latest rationality-challenged ploy is to insist that he would get the troops out quickly, too, because "they're winning."  And his claim that he'll withdraw troops soon is better than Obama's, because while Obama acknowledges that conditions may require a return (such as to prevent genocide), McCain's comes with a guarantee:

I guarantee you, after they withdraw under what we are doing, they'll never have to go back.

So am I missing something, or is McCain's "guarantee" no less than a stunning promise to ignore conditions on the ground?
In what fantasy world can McCain "guarantee" that nothing will ever again happen in Iraq that might require U.S. troops?  And which candidate is it who would rather play politics than tell Americans the truth?

Here's the link to the CNN interview; the "guarantee" comes at the end.

MSM Files American Tragedy Under 'Who Gives A Shit?'

Fri Jul 25, 2008 at 01:21:07 PM PDT

When a mine collapse happens somewhere else in the world, the mention in the mainstream media is incredibly abbreviated - one of the three international events given 20 seconds in "Around The World In A Minute", carefully sandwiched between Panda births in China and a tribal festival you've never heard of in Peru (you know, to provide context).  The segment itself, incidentally, is often preceded by the weather and followed by a commercial/someone cooking something.  'We mustn't try to hold the audience's moment for more than sixty seconds if the event in question occured outside our borders.' This is their attitude.

It's a business - giving a shit doesn't make money on television.  I get that.  But I never thought I'd see the day that the MSM swept an American tragedy under the rug.

Black in America

Thu Jul 24, 2008 at 11:45:17 PM PDT

While clicking through the tv channels these past few nights, I've seen CNN airing their documentary series, Black in America.  I know they've been airing it because no one can miss the box in the right-hand corner with the words Black in America. Black is the key word here, followed by America and then the word in. I know this because of the font size.  The font for the word "in" is so small and faint that my old eyes have to concentrate otherwise it looks like Black America.

Anyway, while browsing through the channels this evening, I stopped for a few moments long enough to hear part of a discussion focused on Black in America and crack cocaine.  The discussion wasn't particularly educational or enlightening, as they rehashed material that has been covered extensively.  This is not to say that I didn't find something interesting.

Boo Hoo!: CNN's GOP shill Glenn Beck whines about Obama

Thu Jul 24, 2008 at 04:16:41 PM PDT

I don't care much about polls showing a slight upturn by McSame in some states. All I need to know about the weaknesses of the right, given the right's fear of an Obama victory, are to found in such rantings as this, by CNN's resident idiot (well, I should say, one of their many resident idiots) Glenn Beck.

Beck now is whining about the minutia of coverage of Obama's campaign, that is, of facts ranging from the trivial (e.g., how often Barack exercises at the gym) to the truly significant (e.g., Obama's current and ongoing foreign policy trip).

I'd thus like to ask Glenn Beck if I can have some cheese to go with the whine.

"one heckler" makes the CNN ticker...

Thu Jul 24, 2008 at 09:33:35 AM PDT

This 'attack' on Obama at the 'Wall' makes a little Diarrhea Diary on CNN's "Political Ticker" with this headline "Obama Heckled at Western Wall" on
http://www.cnn.com

This 'guy' is getting paid to actually go looking for a pimple on a duck's ass.

http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com...

I see that they have shut off the "post comments". But if you find this as offensive as I do there is another way to let CNN know what you think of Alexander Mooney's offensive 'blogging'. Ya' gotta go higher, because he is the "Ticker" editor.

Cafferty & the "Adult" Obama

Wed Jul 23, 2008 at 01:33:56 PM PDT

You gotta love Jack Cafferty sometimes.

On the "Situation Room" he was just talking about Bush's "Wallstreet got drunk" comments and how the administration "shallowness" has created an appetite, "both here and abroad" for someone like Obama.

He then went on to how King Abdullah flew all the way back from Aspen, cutting his vacation short, just so he would have an opportunity to meet with Obama.

But his best comment was about how the King drove Senator Obama to the airport personally, and

"It must be like someone working at a nursery all week, and then finally, on Friday afternoon, they get the opportunity to talk to an adult"

It's almost time to jump in the pool, everyone.  We're getting ready to have an adult swim!

PUMA's

Wed Jul 23, 2008 at 08:54:36 AM PDT

Can someone tell me what the heck is going on with these PUMA's and what does PUMA stand for? I understand they are Hillary supporters & are trying to crash the DEM Convention & get her elected! Here is the article on CNN: http://www.cnn.com/...
preston.puma/index.html Will Bower, the goups leader is quoted at CNN saying:"I have never voted for anything but a Democrat, and I feel that there has been an internal coup, and they are putting forward a candidate that does not represent the will of the Democratic Party," Bower said."We have got a convention coming up and although everyone calls him the nominee, he is the presumed nominee," Bower said. "So we need to make sure Hillary gets her name in nomination and those delegates get a chance to vote, because I think there are a lot of delegates who will change their mind by the end of August and realize that Hillary Clinton is the truer Democrat." Your thoughts PLEASE!

I'm Calling Out Over 88 RW Media Shills By Name

Wed Jul 23, 2008 at 03:37:02 AM PDT

For decades, the major three major networks and CNN have all had conservative leaning biases in which they systematically refused to report actual and compelling news that needs to be reported.

For decades, almost every major newspaper in America, including the Washington Post and the New York Times, have refused to print 95% of the actual news that, if reported, would render the Republican Party and the ideology of conservatism obsolete.  Granted, the NY Post is more conservative than the New York Times and the Washington Times is more conservative than the Washington Post but the NY Times and the Washington Post have been right wing rags for decades.

Below are a list of over 88 names of people who spin or have recently spun RW garbage on one of these four networks or one of these two newspapers.  My focus is simply on these 6 media outlets.  Each of them needs to be monitored, held accountable for each and every lie or spin they tell, and most of them should be fired and replaced with real reporters and real journalists.

CNN on Progressives Pressuring Obama

Tue Jul 22, 2008 at 04:20:42 PM PDT

This is an ongoing series from the national tour for THE UPRISING. You can order The Uprising at Amazon.com or through your local independent bookstore.

2581824136_fec1f79696_m.jpgNEW ORLEANS - CNN today today published a long piece on its website about what an Obama presidency would mean for the African American community. The article fronts an absurd title asking whether an Obama presidency would "hurt black Americans." I'd say there's very little chance of that. However, I do believe the amount that Obama moves the country forward on all issues is contingent on how much we pressure him.

CNN and MSNBC, Bad Bad!

Tue Jul 22, 2008 at 02:37:34 PM PDT

I came home early afternoon today in a fine mellow mood after a concert by the Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival, and made the mistake of checking CNN and MSNBC on line to get the Obama press conference news. What a mistake!

Man Bites Dog! GOP Now Loves Affirmative Action

Mon Jul 21, 2008 at 05:53:01 PM PDT

They had another black Republican pundit guy on MSNBC this afternoon. That's two completely new black Republicans I've seen on TV news in the last week. It seems the industrial/news complex has single-mindedly dedicated itself to this on-air diversity because, apparently, Joe Watkins, J.C. Watts, Larry Elder, Ron Christie, Amy Holmes, Armstrong Williams, Mike Steele, Michelle Bernard, et al. ad nauseum, just aren't enough, combined, to offset, say, the awesome Gene Robinson. CNN even brings Ken Blackwell on-air sometimes and he's a fucking felon.

By my admittedly rough breakdown of nationwide numbers, we now have one African-American Republican on the air for every three actual African-American Republican citizens in the country, presumably via some mainstream media iteration of the affirmative action they so loathe.

CNN Presents: Black in a Bubble

Sun Jul 20, 2008 at 06:54:54 PM PDT

I just got through watching CNN Presents: Black in America, Reclaiming the Dream.  It featured a panel discussion that included many scholars, religious leaders and activists in the black community.  There were several segments including ones on the breakdown of the black family, the achievement gap and the HIV/AIDS crisis.

I found it especially interesting that not once did I hear any serious discussion of racism or any serious dialog about black/white interaction in America at all.
