Immoral Norm Coleman Scolds Immoral Mark Olson

Fri Aug 15, 2008 at 07:08:54 AM PDT

As many of you know, Senator Norm Coleman (MN-R) has a pretty sketchy past.  Rumors of an "unconventional marriage" and sweetheart housing and utilities deals have dominated recent chat.

Coleman recently sent a press release in response to a local State Representative, turned convict, turned State Senate Candidate Mark Olson, being endorsed by the local Republican Party.

Women Rule in North Carolina

Mon Aug 11, 2008 at 12:44:05 PM PDT

And, I mean that Literally.

I was starting to put together a review of the races for myself and was immediately struck by something that I already knew, but maybe had forgotten or not put enough thought into. Women stand a good chance of controlling most of North Carolina Democratic Politics this year. Go below the fold for a quick list of key women and the races they are running.

Fabulous Freeper Update (Vote again today!)(Shameless Pimping for a Good Cause)

Wed Aug 06, 2008 at 09:13:35 AM PDT

Good morning peeps!

Yesterday I published a link to Steve Pearce's website.  For those of you who don't know, Steve Pearce is the idiot who gave up a safe republican congressional seat to take on one of New Mexico's most popular and respected sons, Tom Udall, for the US Senate.  Most of the polls show Tom winning by 25-28%.  It's going to be a wild west ass kicking, kids.

No Permanent Military Bases in Iraq

Mon Aug 04, 2008 at 03:26:55 PM PDT

The Iraqi Parliament wants the US out of Iraq, and they have made it clear in a recent letter which called for US troops to be removed.  The United States doesn't seem quite so inclined to oblige.  Recently we learned that the Bush administration was engaged in secret negotiations to establish fifty military bases, control of Iraqi airspace and legal immunity for all American soldiers and contractors for an indefinite period of time.  The congress must remain engaged and not give in to pressure from the military industrial complex or current administration officials from both sides of the aisle.  If we are ever to step out of this quagmire there must be broad resolve by the American people to bring the troops home and close down the military bases.

Breaking: First SaxbyShameless Radio Ad hits air in Georgia

Fri Jul 25, 2008 at 09:43:44 AM PDT

Take Back Georgia launched our first radio ad against Saxby Shameless today! The radio spots will begin airing across the state of Georgia on Saturday to mark 100 days until Election Day! The issue we are focusing on is rising gas prices, and the money Saxby has taken from big oil while pointing out his votes that have kept us from energy independence and alternative fuels.

You can find both our ads (one is 60seconds, one is 30seconds) at our homepage: www.SaxbyShameless.com or you can hear the longer ad directly by clicking on www.saxbyshameless.com/files/take_back_60.mp3"

Thank you for all the support and let's keep the summer heat on Saxby!

Why I Love Al Franken [Updated]

Fri Jul 18, 2008 at 05:37:55 AM PDT

I live in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Thanks for your condolences - trust me, you don't know half of it.  My city sits on one of the most beautiful pieces of real estate the New World has to offer - Pike's Peak, Seven Falls and Garden of the Gods, just to name a few spectaular sites, are within a short drive.  I wouldn't trade growing up here for anything... but the political leanings of my compatriots leave a little to be desired.

El Paso County is one of the most conservative in the entire country.  Focus on the Family is a scant three exits north on I-25 from the house I grew up in.  I was raised knowing that the majority where I lived thought I was going to Hell (and taking America with me) because I didn't believe in God.  From taunts in the schoolyard to horrifed looks from friend's parents (my mother told me not to make a point of telling people, but what did I know?  I was a kid who didn't know what people expected him to be ashamed about - I guess I still am in a lot of ways), I knew where I came from was different than most my age in this town. I didn't know anything about politics at that time, entering sixth grade - just that I felt differently than those around me.

And when I was eleven years old, Al Franken opened my eyes.

Work for REAL change - stop the Blame Game.

Wed Jul 16, 2008 at 12:11:25 PM PDT

There was no way to get the votes in a 50/50 Senate to stop Telcom Immunity in FISA or the impeachment of George W Bush

MANY of us are blaming "THE DEMOCRATS" on FISA and IMPEACHMENT

That is simply WRONG because it is not possible in a 50/50 Senate
The REPUBLICANS are to blame for FISA and holding the votes to stop impeachment with only LIEBERMAN required for the Republicans to prevail with Cheney there to break any tie.

Some of us seem to forget or fail to realize that victory is relative
It's Jim Webb beating George Allen in Virginia even though he voted YEA on FISA

Democrats are not the reason FISA passed.

worst US Senator?

Mon Jun 16, 2008 at 09:55:28 PM PDT

I've always considered Jim Inhofe from Oklahoma to be the worst and might I add dumbest US Senator around, however my view has been challegend recently by the antics of Lieberman. SO tell, me out there, who is the worst senator out of all 100 of them. This criteria can be broad, stupid, arrogant, just being, in the words of President Bush a Major league a-hole? So what is it?

Let’s Keep Space for Peace

Wed Jun 11, 2008 at 06:53:09 AM PDT

In 1989 the world stood still as the Berlin Wall fell and massive protests erupted in the  Soviet Union.  The whole world was watching as ordinary Russian people lay down in front of tanks, risking their lives in the name of freedom.  In the resulting months, dramatic changes redrew maps throughout Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union.  The new hopes of an entire generation were born and the US had won the cold war.

Norm Coleman's "unconventional marriage"?

Wed Jun 11, 2008 at 06:24:41 AM PDT

Ed Schultz had a discussion last week about the right wing tactics being used to take down Al Franken.  He labeled Norm Coleman a "skirt chaser" and vowed to find people who could confirm the rumors.

A few days later, a right wing blogger in Minnesota defined Senator Coleman's marriage as an "unconventional marriage".

So much for the free ride. Kerry challenger makes primary ballot

Mon Jun 09, 2008 at 11:53:27 AM PDT

OK, Massachusetts Democratic State Conventions are often snooze-a-thons. The only reason for this year's convention was to endorse a candidate for US Senate. Candidates also need 15% of the vote to qualify for the primary ballot in September.

Incumbent John Kerry, who hasn't faced a primary battle since winning the seat in 1984, had hoped to avoid one this year by keeping Challenger Ed O'Reilly under 15%. O'Reilly gathered 22% of the vote and will be on the September ballot. Ooops!

Kerry Gets Free Pass in Senate Re-election

Tue Jun 03, 2008 at 04:07:20 PM PDT

MA-SEN - Things have been pretty poor for the Republicans in Massachusetts for quite some time. Other than the stray rich guy looking for an amusing hobby like being Governor, they've declined to near extinction.

Now they can't even get their premier Senate candidate on their own primary ballot.

BlueMassGroup, citing Boston media reports, has more.

Cuba Libre

Tue Jun 03, 2008 at 01:09:26 PM PDT

There is a country just ninety miles from the shores of the United States that I have never been to.  The Republic of Cuba is the home of my grandmother and countless uncles, aunts and cousins scattered throughout Florida and points north.  I am not allowed to travel to Cuba because there is an economic embargo on that country which has been in place for almost fifty years.  If I do travel to Cuba I risk being fined $7,500 by my government for stepping feet on the native soil of my relations.

Floor Debate Watch: US Senate, June 2

Mon Jun 02, 2008 at 11:50:49 AM PDT

I'm watching CSPAN2, and I'd be interested in reading comments from others who might be watching as well.

Did Sen. Sessions (R-AL) just say that we have "dominion" over the Earth?  Crazy.

Everyone is saying that the environment is important, and nobody wants to hurt the economy.  This is looking like the movie "The Day After".  Crazy stuff.

Post your comments on what you hear.  Let's talk about it.
