Did John Edwards vote for 'em or him? Listen below and judge for yourself.
Video from MSNBC's Morning Joe:
Did John Edwards vote for 'em or him? Hear for urself. Here is full video for those interested: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/...
What Chimp said earlier in his diary:
He did not want to say who he voted for or who he was going to endorse. After playing coy for a while he was asked by Mika about the endorsement and when it was coming. Edwards accidently said "I just voted for him." This was obviously an unintentional slip and I do not think Mika or Edwards realized what he said. He then said that an endorsement was coming soon and that he would be endorsing the person he voted for. Well we all know who he is endorsing now.
Last night John McCain stopped by the Daily Show under different circumstances than usual. He's made quite a few stops at the show over the years but now he brings with him a secret service detail and the interview stakes are a tad higher.
Jon starts by talking to McCain about formalities and then brings him back "into the octagon". He also manages to catch McCain in an inconsistency over the issue of Hamas, Obama and radical extremism. But not to give everything away - I'll just share the video and let you comment yourself:
On last night's episode of 60 minutes, Pat Tillman's mother took issue with the question of "what will it take for you to be satisfied". She said that the cover-up and propaganda that ensued after Pat's death went beyond their family to the general public. "This was a public deception" she says.
Those who knew Pat are asked to comment on how he would feel about what has happened since his death. They say that Pat had expressed fears that if he died, his death would be used for purposes of propaganda. They say that Pat would probably be furious at what has happened and call it criminal.
I feel really bad for the Tillman family and I'm pretty ashamed of how this was handled by my country's government.
Last night DNC Chairman Howard Dean stopped by The Daily Show to interview Jon Stewart. Jon asks him how with a President at historic lows, a struggling economy and an unpopular war the Democrats will manage to lose yet again.
He sticks it to Dean pretty hard for the Florida & Michigan debacle although the mood of the interview is generally in good spirits. Dean says that they will figure out how to include Florida and Michigan in the process although he refers to it as a juggling act and I'll believe it when I see it.
Here is the second part of the epic face off between Hillary Clinton and Bill "Culture Warrior" O'Reilly. They have a pretty passionate exchange about torture and foreign policy with regards to Iran, terrorism etc.
In the second part he asks the Senator about water boarding and torture, with O'Reilly bullying Clinton into trying to admit torture is the obvious solution. While I'm not a Hillary Clinton supporter I found myself cheering her on and think she did well. Much of that might have to do with the fact that O'Reilly is a douche.
I wonder if it sets the wrong precedent going on his show, since she chose to be interviewed on O'Reilly while she's yet to appear on a lot of other good shows. FOX News is probably pretty happy with themselves.
Watching the O'Reilly/Clinton interview embed on MyDD, I was offended by a response of Clinton "You know what, Rich People, God Bless Us. We deserve all the opportunities, to make sure our country and our blessings continue for the next generation." This was immediatly following saying "I am not in favor of lifting the cap (Social Security), that is Senator Obama."
Maybe I am further left than I know, but I was offended by that line. "Rich People, God Bless Us." We are in a primary battle where going to San Fransisco, and mangling a sentence, that was based on a common understanding in the Democratic Party, gets one labled as elitist, condescending, patronizing, and an all around out of touch person. Then the person championing these attacks goes on a Conservative Spin Program, and talks about God Blessing Rich People. I think to the extent we should have God in Politics and a Sumpreme Beingss Blessing, being called upon anyone, it should be called down for our Troops her vote helped place in harms way, or those economicly depressed people that she claims to connect with more than her opponent.
First, I'm glad he wants to see the good in all of us. He wants to give the benefit of the doubt that we are people of our word and will work for the common good.
Unfortunately, that's not how the Hillary Clinton supporters (Bill Moyers and Rev. Dr. Barbara Reynolds) think. Did you miss that Hillary Clinton connection? A supporter of Hillary got Rev. Wright into the Nat'l Press Club. So perhaps we now know why she did not issue a statement yesterday - she was behind this media circus. It's time for democrats of sound mind to defeat Hillary and Bill Clinton for President. It's not just that Wright wanted to respond. It's that the Clinton's put him up to it.
In case you went looking for this today, you reached a dead link. Or a blank page. Or maybe you got crafty.
Anyone who has actually read the bible, and then sat down and watched the right-wing media on any given day, would quickly be struck by a contrast of separate ideologies, polar opposites in fact: one is based on love and hope, the other hate and fear.
In Anatomy of a FOX Interview, Josh Nelson's analysis clearly demonstrates FOX News's own priority-- destroying a Christian minister to hurt Obama politically by mere association-- remains an issue that's not even in line with the true concerns of voters.
Jeremiah Wright: 8 questions
Race: 6 questions
Reaching Across the Aisle to Republicans: 3 questions
The Economy (#1 issue for voters): 2 questions
Gas Prices (#2 issue for voters): 0 questions
Health Care(#3 issue for voters): 0 questions
But I will go further. The attacks on Wright are not only hateful and false, they prove conclusively that even if he were perfect, like Jesus, he would face even worse attacks and persecution. And why not, if, as Jesus warned, a servant is not above his master?
Barack Obama crossed over to the dark side yesterday. Thats not to say that he did anything wrong, but he did voluntarily enter FOX News' evil pravda lair.
The "Obama Clock" will finally end and maybe now he will receive less bashing by the unfair and imbalanced folks at FOX. So the question I pose to everyone is: Was it worth it? If you were Obama would you have gone on FOX News Sunday for an interview with Chris Wallace?
Do you think doing so would legitimize a network that ought not be legitimized? Or do you think that it's just the pragmatic thing to do if he has any hopes of being elected? To be honest - I'm not really sure what I would have done.
What a difference a Fox interview makes! Like many Kossacks, my first exposure to Obama's interview this morning with Chris Wallace on Fox News Sunday was reading through the live-blogging and comments on this thread (Thanks, mselite!). Apart from some early anxiety over how smart or dumb a move this was on the part of Obama, the overall consensus appeared to be positive. (But then, we Obama Kossacks are just mindless cultists...)
However, look a little further afield, and you'll see that many liberal bloggers are having babies. (No, I'm not going to visit anti-Obama sites.) What are some of them talking about, and why have they gone cold on Obama?
I recommend that you all read what he says in this transcript of his interview with Bill Moyers, and read it well.
I think in this day and age, the media's gotten rather lazy. They seem themselves as simple pass-through conduits for information, rather than condensers and interpreters looking to get to deeper information. They gladly accept limited soundbites, and make that the story, instead of telling the viewers what they might be interested to find out.
The other diary discussion has slid off the recent diaries list, so I thought I would start up a diary to discuss Reverend Wright's WONDERFUL interview with Bill Moyers that I really hope everyone watches.
I saw from some of the comments that John King on CNN is already doing a hatchet job on what Wright said. But we have no control over that, as always. What we can do is watch the interview, make up our own minds about what we think, and hopefully disseminate it to our family and friends.
There's no denying Steve Novick is a political animal. He loves policy, thinks government can be run well enough to be a net benefit to Americans, and takes on the rough and tumble of campaigning with aplomb--if not with a touch of the choirboy's naivete, as to what others might be capable of. There's no task that seems too formidable to fix for Novick, and he loves getting into the weeds on an issue.
But his singularity among political candidates is that he can walk into the weeds while leading people through them, acting as their guide and using everyday language, finally bringing them back out again to see the whole picture.
Yesterday, Bill Clinton blamed Obama for playing the race card in South Carolina:
"I think that they played the race card on me. We now know, from memos from the campaign that they planned to do it along." - President Bill Clinton.
And that’s how President Clinton begins his answer to WHYY’s Susan Phillips who, during a phone interview earlier this evening, asked the President how he feels about one Philadelphia official who says she switched her support after interpreting Clinton’s remarks in South Carolina as an attempt to marginalize Obama as "the black candidate." http://supertuesdayblog.wordpress.com
The problem is, it WAS the Clinton's who started the whole discussion. Obama had nothing to gain by raising the issue of race. Hillary did. Even Hillary's campaign staff admitted that they were trying to paint Obama as the black candidate.
At the risk of this having already been diaried, given that the video is over a week old, I decided to push forward anyway. It took me almost 40 minutes to download the video on my dial-up and it was worth every minute. I found the video originally on Brad's Blog through a link on Raw Story, then went to YouTube to get the embed.
Rev. Michael Pfleger apparently committed the mortal sin of having invited Rev. Wright to his parish to hear Maya Angelou speak. Being the great guardian of American morality and righteousness that he is, O'Reilly sent one of his goons to confront the good Father and find out why he would invite such a racist, hatemongering anti-American to attend an event at his church? "Is this the kind of message you want your church to hear? (paraphrased because I can't remember it exactly)"
Bill Moyers at the end of his show today announced he would be interviewing Pastor Wright. This would be the first interview with Pastor Wright since the scandal broke. We can all rest easy, he is in good hands.
Apparently, Senator Obama was supposed to be the guest on "The B.S. Report", which is a podcast done by Bill Simmons, a frequent writer for both the site and ESPN: The Magazine (also, my favorite sportswriter). However, this will not come to pass for reasons that are still unclear.
Here is the interview from last night's episode of The Daily Show w/ Jon Stewart. Republican Chuck Hagel sits down with Jon to talk about the United States' involvement in Iraq.
It's kind of a slow news day but Chuck Hagel is one of my absolute favorite Republicans. I really enjoy listening to his candor on such a sensitive subject and it gives me hope that a politicians' moral compass can often overcome notions of partisan loyalty. I'm also a huge Daily Show fan...
