What I Took Away From WV
Wed May 14, 2008 at 12:44:52 AM PDT
With 100% reporting per CNN Hillary Clinton has bested Barack Obama in West Virgina, 67% to 26%. The total votes cast for each candidate are 239,062 for Clinton and 91,652 for Obama.
But that isn't really interesting to me. Show me a person who is surprised by that outcome and I will show you a person who doesn't follow politics. No. They incredible thing that I haven't seen anyone mention yet? In the Republican contest John McCain - running essentially unapposed - received 76% of the vote with 89,683 votes cast for him.
26 Reasons Why November Could Be a Tidal Wave w/ Poll
Tue May 13, 2008 at 10:21:23 PM PDT
I know, I know.....I've hard it before....don't get cocky.
It's too early to get over confident. Remember Karl Rove's Math!
Watch out for the October surprise!
But I really have to say, when you start looking at all the dynamics right now, the Republican Party, when it gets behind a closed door to try and plot a route to victory this fall, has to be absolutely petrified. Am I blowing smoke? I don't think so....Join me below the bump for a look at what I believe are 26 good reasons why this November could see a Democratic victory of truly epic proportions:
McCain Fails to Break 80% in Fourth Straight Primary

The question should be "Why can't McCain close the deal?" Here are the results of the last four GOP primaries.
BREAKING: Clinton Campaign Bilks McCain Out Of His Fortune
Tue May 13, 2008 at 09:26:55 PM PDT
(Cross-posted at Talking Points Memo)
Minutes after Senator Hillary Clinton finished her victory speech in West Virginia, AARP Senior Fraud Defense lawyer Roberta Flume received a panicked call from Senator John McCain. According to Ms. Flume, the call went as follows:
Democratic Primaries 2008: The Movie
Tue May 13, 2008 at 07:42:42 PM PDT
I got the idea from my buddy Cwech, a fellow Daily Kos blogger, to do an entry on if they made a movie on the 2008 Democratic Primaries who would be the actor’s cast. Yes this is a silly thing to do but I am in a silly mood right now. I’m not going for which actor looks exactly like but ones who I think could do a good job portraying the main players from this primary season. Feel free to come up with you own suggestions.

Gov Gregoire Pimps Boeing on DKOS under Guise of Blasting McCain
Tue May 13, 2008 at 06:01:22 PM PDT
John McCain apparently came to Washington State Tuesday. Landed at Boeing Field.
Washington Governor Chris Gregoire, a good Democrat, an Obama supporter, and (in her role as the State's CEO) a Boeing Cheerleader, stopped by the Daily Kos today as well - and made it to the rec list.
I am not pleased by what she had to say, nor by her treating us here as rubes, knowing that Anti-McCain rhetoric would play very well here.
As a peace-loving person, I take extreme exception to the Governor's tactic of using this forum to blast John McCain - when it seems that all she really was here to do was to pimp for the Boeing Company.
MCCAIN/CLINTON - Brought to you by the fear and loathing of HRC by Obamaniacs
Tue May 13, 2008 at 05:46:23 PM PDT
McCain/Clinton could that be the offspring of the seemingly endless hatred by Obama supporters not only against HRC but her supporters?
You'd think that now that she's basically lost, Obama would NOT be alone in being considerate of her as a person, but judging by online, the typical Obama supporter, QUITE UNLIKE OBAMA, still has a take no prisoners approach to HRC. Their goal now is to humiliate her at the convention, strip her of all influence and say and of course absolutely bar her from the VP slot.
Wisdom is Always the Highest Form of Wealth
Tue May 13, 2008 at 04:14:08 PM PDT
Wealth is not always how much you make or save, but the peace of mind acquired through the understanding of our world, our attitude towards it, and our attitude towards each other. One of the most ignorant and closed-minded entity ever formed by man is the Church. They always used their misunderstanding of the Bible to satisfy their greed. It is amazing that the Church that once believed that the earth was the center of the universe, actually admitted to its ignorance in 1992. Now, they believe in aliens. How wonderful!!!!
Gangster-Rabbi & Gayish Priest Plot With Satan In Hagee Film!~
Tue May 13, 2008 at 03:06:39 PM PDT
"The HageeFather"
The following tragi-farcical video is built around a brief excerpt from Texas megachurch pastor John Hagee's 2001 55-minute film "Vanished", which followed the prophetic, premillennial plot line of Tim LaHaye's and Jerry Jenkin's "Left Behind" book and film series so closely that it was produced by the same company which had made the original "Left Behind" movie.
The 4 minute, 51 second video explores the association, made in the Hagee Ministries film, of Jews with homosexuality, abstract art, conspiracy, satanism, organized crime, and New York City and Europe as historic Jewish power-bases---all associations made in the infamous 1930's-era anti-Jewish Nazi propaganda film [perhaps one of the three most lethal works of anti-Jewish propaganda in modern history alongside The Protocols of The Elders of Zion and Henry Ford's "The International Jew"] that was produced with close supervision by Third-Reich arch-propagandist Joseph Goebbels and which some consider it to be, in effect, authored by Goebbels himself: "The Eternal Jew". McCain's Jewish Problem
Tue May 13, 2008 at 02:47:28 PM PDT
His problem, you see, is that Jews are generally progressive. A new poll by Gallup finds that in a prospective match up against Barack Obama, McCains loses among Jews 2 to 1.

The brain surgeon who jumped the fence to Harvard
Tue May 13, 2008 at 02:22:14 PM PDT
Not that I'd be so callous to wish the need for a tumor to be removed from their brains, but if Lou Dobbs or Julie L. Myers, Assistant Secretary of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) ever had such a need, they'd be in good hands with Dr. Alberto Quiñones-Hinojosa.
At the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, Alfredo Quiñones-Hinojosa has four positions. He is a neurosurgeon who teaches oncology and neurosurgery, directs a neurosurgery clinic and heads a laboratory studying brain tumors. He also performs nearly 250 brain operations a year. Twenty years ago, Dr. Quiñones-Hinojosa, now 40, was an illegal immigrant working in the vegetable fields of the Central Valley in California. He became a citizen in 1997 while at Harvard.
Obama and Bloggers on Halfway McCain's Global Warming concepts
Tue May 13, 2008 at 02:14:29 PM PDT
John McCain's speech and policy constructs on Global Warminghave gotten a bit of attention from the Energy Smart blogging world.
The following are few of the worthwhile discussions to date.
But first, a word from Senator Obama in a statement sent out just after McCain gave the speech:
"It is truly breathtaking for John McCain to talk about combating climate change while voting against virtually every recent effort to actually invest in clean energy. You don't have to look further than the wind turbine plant where Senator McCain is speaking today to assess his commitment to this cause. While Senator McCain talks about the need to invest in alternative energy, he rejected the single biggest investment in renewable energy in history, including incentives that contributed to a nearly 50% increase in wind power generation last year, and he has repeatedly opposed renewable fuel mandates and higher fuel efficiency standards for cars and trucks."
So Much for "Reform"
Tue May 13, 2008 at 01:27:15 PM PDT
McCain is in western Washington today, and doing what all Republicans visiting the area do; stopping by the well-heeled Seattle suburb of Bellevue for a fundraiser. And, as Goldy notes, in the great tradition of Mr. Campaign Finance Reform Maverick McCain, he's stretching the law to the limit.
He's having a $33,100 per plate. How does one arrive at a figure like $33,100?
- For Individuals—The first $2,300 to JM 2008, the next $2,300 to the Compliance Fund, the next $28,500 to the RNC, and the balance of up to $37,000 will be divided evenly between the Colorado, Minnesota, New Mexico, and Wisconsin state parties’ federal accounts.
- For Couples—The first $4,600 to JM 2008, the next $4,600 to the Compliance Fund, the next $57,000 to the RNC, and the balance of up to $74,000 will be divided evenly between the Colorado, Minnesota, New Mexico, and Wisconsin state parties’ federal accounts.
As Goldy notes, the RNC and the federal committees of state parties can raise unlimited funds, and they can spend all those unlimited funds on McCain. So while just $2,300 of that ticket cost is going directly to his campaign coffers, the rest is going to be laundered through the states and the RNC and will end up, yup, in his campaign coffers.
The Proper Historical Term Is "Uppity"
Tue May 13, 2008 at 01:25:20 PM PDT
Man, I tell ya, this Democratic primary season sure has been different. The long-running nature of the contest certainly has a lot to do with it, and I think that's a factor in seeing a side of the Democratic party and America in general that we don't usually get to see, since usually by now we're paying attention to all the tricks Karl Rove is pulling out of his Lee Atwater Do-It-Yourself Mudslinger's Manual.
Let's face it, Kentucky, West Virginia, North Carolina, Indiana, Pennsylvania, and Ohio all have something in common, more or less, and it isn't normally associated with the central tenets of the Democratic Party, unless you count the dwindling supply of reliable union voters, who've been reliable in a clinging to guns and God way since 1980, and voting Republican.
What this can't-quite-put-my-finger=on-it thing might be, why this looks like a big fat rhinocerous in the room, and why it really isn't, upon landing from the jump...

McCain's campaign head lobbied for Nigerian govt. and Argentine politician
Tue May 13, 2008 at 12:46:00 PM PDT
According to a 2007 article from the Washington Post, a lobbyist named Rick Davis is currently managing McCain's campaign. According to the Center for Public Integrity, Davis is a name partner to the lobbying firm Davis, Manafort & Freedman, Inc.
Now, go to the DoJ's FARA search page and put "DAVIS MANAFORT & FREEDMAN" in the "Registrant Name" field. Two of the objects under "FOREIGN PRINCIPAL NAME" column should catch your eye: an Arentine Politician named "ALBERTO PIERRI" and the "FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA."
Lets dig deeper and see who these two entities are, shall we?
KKK Endorses McCain [with video]
Tue May 13, 2008 at 12:39:51 PM PDT
Back in February, there was a brief to-do when it was claimed that the KKK had endorsed Barack Obama for President. The "story" fell apart when it was shown that the source was the Daily Squib, a satirical UK faux news source with a mission (and a credibility) somewhere between the National Enquirer and The Onion.
Then yesterday, a video popped up on YouTube which purports to show a Ku Klux Klan spokesman endorsing John McCain for President. Is it a fake? A fraud? A hoax? Take a look:

Surprisingly, this might not be a hoax at all. There are a number of lines of evidence that suggest that this video could be the real deal.
