Anonymous focus on Bank of America lets other banks off

We have seen a lot of energy put into Anonymous leaking emails that show the Bank of America using "social proof" to alter real public opinion. But in this excitement we have forgotten that many banks want the same system and were in the process of buying software to do this and more.

Here are some emails that show banks are clearly interested in the same technology. None of the links that were used in this story are active any more and most of the website are out of service. So only some of the emails can be included here. Please find and use a working HBGary Email search engine to get more details.

In the first part of this story, we spent a lot of time on HBGary and HBGary Federal - computer security companies whose website and network were destroyed by internet attacks by some members of the group called Anonymous. They were fighting back when they found out that HBGary was using them to get publicity. In the process, the world found out what else HBGary was doing for their high profile client, the Bank of America.

Part 1: HBGary

In the middle of the banking crisis, the Bank of America was trying to change the public's opinion of them. They were trying to deal with their negative image that came out of the crisis. The US government also comes into this story along with companies the Bank was using -- directly and indirectly -- to change the public perception of them.

In the United States more so than other countries, the political "Right Wing" has gone beyond conservative policies and gone completely to greed as they protect their major source of campaign donations: large corporations.

To protect the top few wealthy people in the country who manage these corporations, they have taken positions that have damaged the reputation of the United States internationally while pushing more financial burden onto the American public.

Their public relations strategy uses a combination of statistics, psychology, propaganda and violence so they can advance an extremist agenda without significant opposition. In fact, most Americans who support the Right Wing end up voting for politicians who work against their interests.
