Tonight was a pivotal and disgusting moment of House right-winger demonstration of their total lack of humanity...much like the famed "47%" moment during Romney's campaign which revealed him to be the cold plutocrat he is.
I discovered tonight's unbelievable events while looking over some earlier "recent diaries" here to see the one posted by dagnone which described what happened. I then went onto CSPAN and if you bring up their video on their homepage of today's main house debate and vote on the fiscal cliff and go to about thirty minutes before it ends...just when Steney Hoyer comes up to speak about the pending adjournment without action..you will see it displayed then in all its sorry detail.
After making Sandy victim's wait a full nine weeks before they would agree to take up emergency relief, and finally breaking it up into two bills for $27 and $33 billion to allow Teapartiers to consider the $60 billion already okayed by the Senate and to disallow the part they considered "pork"...and with the full understanding that the bills would be taken up before final adjournment for this session, they suddenly, after the Fiscal Cliff vote decided to not allow it at all. This produced outrage by speakers from both sides of the aisle. And when there was a decision to cut off debate and adjourn for the night...a voice vote produced many more nays than yays but it was still adjourned anyway to audible boos ringing through the chamber.
Here's the link from CNN's story :http://www.cnn.com/...
I became so infuriated when I saw this spectacle that I tweeted anyone I could..and tried calling the Congressional number mentioned by a furious Charlie Rangel...which is 202-225-3121. I especially tried reaching the folks at CNN and MSNBC hoping they'd spotlight this on their Monday shows..since I feel that it is so shameful..and can be the final straw for so many in the public who are finally learning and appreciating the GOP's inaction on just about anything in their record do-nothing Congress...and if displayed enough can be the Tea Party's shameful "47%" moment.
And I want, of course, more people to show their outrage too..so that this awful action can be reversed in the morning so that the whole Senate 62-32 vote doesn't die also with the end of Congress on Thursday.
