Schweitzer is McCain's populist nightmare.
If McCain picks Mittens, who spent $100 million of his own money to run for President, then the repugs go down in flames as the party of the elite.
Everything will continue to be framed perfectly as working people versus the elite running on the heels of the 7 houses gaffe.

I was sitting at my desk at work and I received a push poll against Larry LaRocco for Jim Risch. Angry gnome Risch must be getting nervous about this race. Apparently the gloves are coming off as we get closer to November.
Even in Idaho the Republicans are running scared!
Poll 37 votes Show Results Time for my own push poll. How Desperate will the Republicans get in the Blue Wave of 2008? They will resort to any tactics necessary to keep the Democrats from winning a filibuster proof house and senate. They will clone Ronald Reagan and announce him as the running mate with McCain next week. They will spend money deep into the red states like Idaho to keep an angry gnome like Risch from winning a seat he should easily win. Somehow Bush and Cheney will suspend the election. 37 votes Vote Now! Time for my own push poll. How Desperate will the Republicans get in the Blue Wave of 2008? Larry LaRocco, who is running for the open seat vacated by Larry Craig, is liveblogging here on Kos right now.
Rec his diary please! Ask him questions and of course donate to him on ActBlue.

We've all been hearing more and more and seeing it in the polls that Obama is having trouble winning the white working class vote lately. The latest salvo of states has been Indiana, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and the next one will be in West Virginia.
These states are the most important because of their location and an even distribution of blacks and minorities in their states. But wait a minute. Didn't Obama win Idaho, an all white state full of white working class voters?

I should pick up tickets to the Appalachia Traveling Shakespeare Company if they come to my town. if I hear one more time that Obama can't win the white blue collar vote I am liable to do something illegal, crazy or kneecap Mark Penn like Nancy Kerrigan. a WINO is a white in name only. people in the intermountain west who are Democrats don't have internets or television and that is why Obama won there. Obama's foreign policy is flawed and Obama would put black people in space. Rest in Peace Richard Pryor. Pie 103 votes Vote Now! Why after all of this time and supposed progress we are still talking about issues of rabid nationalism, racism and sexism. How is that that Europe, Australia and New Zealand have surpassed us by leaps and bounds when it comes to defending social justice and equal rights?
The filing period for candidates has just begun in Idaho and I am so disappointed. As far as I know a Democrat has yet to file to run against Mike Simpson in CD-2.
Isn't everyone saying this is the year of years to run as a Democrat! After all GWB is finishing up the worst presidency ever! And I guess most of you are all aware of that whole Larry Craig thing. Yah, us folks here in Idaho remember that, too.
So what is the deal? Why would anyone stall hesitate to run in this Idahoan district under these conditions?

Isn't it his job to have vetted and found a candidate by now? WOW! Idaho Dem Party office number is 208-336-1815. I will call to complain or declare my candidacy. I will also be cool if Randy answers the phone because Randy is cool beans. Howard Dean - He'll put the heat on the right people for not having a candidate running for CD-2. I am not sure how we'd call him. Maybe if we just yelled YAAARGH loud enough or concentrated on the 50 state strategy REALLY, REALLY HARD. 15 votes Vote Now! As far as deciding who might be the best VP for Obama, one should analyze some of the other potential ticket balancers out there. Voters are all familiar with Clinton, Richardson, Dodd, Biden, and Edwards but who are the other best choices out there? Governor Sebelius, Wesley Clark, Senator Jim Webb, Governor Ted Strickland, Governor Napolitano and Brian Schweitzer are the best VP candidates that come to mind.
Poll 713 votes Show Results Who would be the best VP for Obama? Obama/Clinton. It sounds good. The media is hyping it. This is a powerhouse combo. Obama/Sebelius. We need a woman on that ticket and not Clinton. She would help seal the deal on the midwest. Obama/Richardson. Richardson has the foreign policy we need. Obama/Clark. I know that Clark is under Clinton's wing now. Clark has the military credibility that Obama needs. Obama/Edwards. Forget the "he was VP before arguement!" Edwards fights poverty and would help clean up Washington. Obama/Webb. Obama leads with his brilliant oration. Webb has the military credibility that the ticket needs. Obama/Biden. Biden has a great plan for Iraq and the experience needed. Obama/Strickland. Strickland would win Ohio and bring over some evangelicals... Obama/Schweitzer. Schweitzer has great down-home blue collar populism appeal. And Schweitzer would go everywhere in DC with his dog Jag! Obama/Gore. How many awards does Gore gotta win to get some respect? Obama/Napolitano. Just the thought of McCain losing Arizona gives me goosebumps. Obama/Olbermann. The o2 ticket. Well, it beats me saying Obama/Pie. I am still parsing all of the numbers that emerged from the caucuses here in Idaho and reflecting on all of the energy I saw and experienced.
Senator Obama won here 79% to 17% and posted his widest margin of victory against Senator Clinton yet. Barack won 43 of 44 caucus sites, save one county where Clinton turned out 10 rabid supporters to Obama's seven.
Even my Republican leaning grandmother turned out to caucus for Obama in Twin Falls county. She is a strict southern baptist who voted for the Bushes four times and was the first one in line to caucus for Obama at a caucus of 800 people.
My caucus site in Bannock County had just over five hundred people participate four years ago. On Tuesday it was the fourth largest in the state with 1444 counted ballots, (+1 for a poor old guy who got mad that he couldn't vote Mitt Romney after he waited in line for an hour), and an extra three hundred or so that were spectators...
