The GOP is in serious panic and disarray and already planning to drop Donald Trump like a rock according to the New York Time:
McConnell is assuring Senate candidates running for reelection that they should feel free to run ads against Trump if they feel he is hurting their own campaigns. According to senators attending private lunches with the Majority Leader, McConnell is taking the approach that Trump will lose badly in the general election and that senators should sell themselves as a bulwark against a Hillary Clinton presidency.
Pointing out that he still won easily when President Bill Clinton was reelected, McConnell reportedly told colleagues that the party will drop Trump “like a hot rock” if he is the nominee.
To add to full to the fire, Conservatives are calling to have somebody run as a 3rd Party Candidate for the Presidential elections. Redstate writer Leon Wolf today wrote today on the dire need for a Conservative to run as an alternative to Donald Trump should he win the the Republican nominee.
GOP had better hope that someone comes along and gives conservative voters a reason to go to the polls in November. Because if Trump takes a dive (which he definitely will), he’s going to take an absolutely massive chunk of the House and Senate with him, unless there’s a guy at the top of the ticket that conservatives want to show up and vote for. That still probably won’t save the Senate, but it will prevent the disaster from being as bad as it otherwise could have been.
The only person I see running as a Third Party Conservative is Mitt Romney because he has the money and at this moment is the only is the Conservatives only hope that could match up against Donald Trump. What do you all think?
