Hell yes, I was mad that we didn't get tax hikes for the rich; hell yes I was despondent for a few days when the president didn't use the 14th Amendment and tell the tea-baggers to go fuck themselves; and yes, I almost pulled the Obama 2012 sticker from my car in the depths of my despair. But looking more carefully about what is in the bill and what is NOT, and what is protected by the language of the bill, I'm not nearly as upset. I'm still upset, but we live to fight another day.
I saw a poll today, and yes, I know, polls are all over the place, but while Obama's numbers are indeed lower, Congress' numbers are absurdly low. It's the poll CNN has been showing; I don't feel the need to stick a link here, but it had a 14% approval for Congress, 14%! Now, I know that the Rethugs got a lot out of this bill, but the right wing is not happy either; they wanted more. And for folks who don't live and breathe politics, Obama actually has come off as the more reasonable, level-headed adult-type person here. There will be a back-lash against the Rethugs if we stop fighting play this thing right. Not supporting our president's re-election is playing it wrong, and I was shocked to see a rec'd diary proposing that very thing. Yes, down ticket is important, but throngs of people coming out in support of a Democratic president at the top of the ticket helps those down the ticket just as much if not more.
To NOT donate to Obama 2012 is lunacy....
