If Mitt Romney claims to be such a "Captain of Industry" - why hasn't he offered to take a leadership role amongst corporate America to assist in relief and reconstruction? A shrewd politician would see this opportunity to show Americans what a joint public/private cooperation could do to assist devastated areas, rebuilding and improvement of infrastructure, and the most effective measures to return the region to normalcy after arguably, the worst natural disaster in US history.
This shoots straight to the heart of what conservatives and the business community have been arguing for decades - the power and efficiency of the private sector over the government. If Mitt Romney cannot "lead" the private sector in such an worthy endeavor -which in his own words (for the private sector -the time has come) - how could he lead the nation through it?
Instead we get a campaign rally disguised as a food drive. Sure, I'm quite certain he sent a few checks too - but Romney is running to be the de-facto leader of the free world - personally, I was expecting a bit more - even from Mitt Romney.
I am not a Romney supporter, but I would like to think a third of Americans are voting for someone who can at least demonstrate the basic abilities Romney is so heavily banking on - that of a corporate "Leader".
