Last week, I started organizing a local organization here in Jackson, Mississippi called CIVIL USA- Citizens In the Voluntary Insistence of Laws.
A week later, that movement has now blossomed into a new, nationwide progressive grassroots protest movement called US Uncut. We're organizing in 25 states and working in accordance with UK Uncut on an international day of protest on Saturday, February 26, which is already gaining massive traction. 8 major U.S. cities have actions planned. In the last week, I've been contacted by the BBC's The World, The Guardian, The Daily Beast, The Nation, and a freelancer who writes for alternet, Salon and others.
Our fight is for economic justice and the preservation of the middle class. This is the new civil rights battle of the 21st century. The demonstrations we're seeing in Madison, WI today will be happening all over the nation within a matter of months.
More below the fold on what a Southern civil rights hero had to say about this new movement.
