What’s the most delicious way you can contribute to Japan’s recovery from the triple whammy of earthquake, tsunami and nuclear crisis?

Drink sake. Japanese sake, of course, but that’s where all the good stuff is from.
Japan’s sake industry is a national treasure; one of its most traditional and unique industries. But while the quality is as high as ever, financially the Japanese sake industry has been in decline for a while as most Japanese drinkers choose beer, shochu and increasingly wine.

Welcome to the Daily Kos Wine Lovers Group. I'd like to share some great wine resources with you.

The first, of course, is the best wine magazine anywhere, Palate Press: The online wine magazine. It has great wine stories, international writers, and daily wine reviews. Every weekend there is a Palate Press Wine of the Week poll for you, too. Oh, and did I mention that I'm the publisher?

But that's not really what I wanted to tell you about. Are you familiar with flash sales? These are sites that have "buy it until it's gone" sales, then they put up another bottle. With the economy down, and absolute OCEANS of great wine going unsold, the bargains are astounding. Take the leap and I'll share some with you. If you know of others, add them in the comments.

Open That Bottle Night, or OTBN, is the night to go to the cellar, or the shelf, or the box under the stairs, to pull out that special bottle, the one "too good" to open, or the special bottle from a long-lost loved one, and share it with friends and family.
