No, this doesn't involve the Alabama attorney general (as far as I know).
A gunman has opened fire on two small Alabama towns-- Samson and Geneva in Southeast Alabama. At least five people are reported dead. Some were shot in a gas station and others were gunned down in a Walmart parking lot. The gunman has been shot dead.
These are quiet, conservative small towns where everyone knows and/or is related to pretty much everybody else. I know because this is where I grew up and where all my family currently lives.
Who knows why this happens. Please remember the people of Geneva and Samson.
Update: As noted by sharistuf, 5 to 8 now reported dead. The gunman started at the Piggly Wiggly--"The Pig"--in Samson and traveled to Geneva, shooting at Walmart, and finally ended at Reliable products in Geneva. Not sure whether the gunman shot himself or was shot by the police. Thanks to everyone for your thoughts and prayers!
Update 2: 9 now reported dead.
Update 3: 11 now known dead, including the gunman. My sister works at Reliable products where the gunman killed himself. Her office was right where he entered the building, but she was out of town today.
