Sid Blumenthal has an excellent article out on Salon regarding the current status of the scandal swirling around our favorite neocon, Paul Wolfowitz, and his current love muffin Shaha Riza.
Intrepid readers may recall from our last discussion that Riza is pulling down a nearly $200,000 salary, based on a spotlessly scrubbed automatic performance rating from the State Department of "excellent". Now really, at the end of the day, who among us wouldn't want an automatic rating of "excellent"? But nobody seemed to know exactly why.
Following up on some confusion on the part of the State Department about what Riza's new job actually entails or where she physically, actually, shows up for work every day, we tracked her down to her new digs at Foundation for the Future, a shell organization whose sole purpose appears to be the laundering of $60 million for whatever State Department off-book operations might prove useful in the Middle East in the coming months.
