I just was looking around some websites, and thought that Rep. Brad Miller (D-NC) could have an escape hatch by running for Lieutenant Governor instead of running for Governor, because it is an open seat, since current Democratic Lieutenant Governor Walter Dalton is running for Governor.
The Governor's race already has the Lieutenant Governor (Walter Dalton) in the race, a former congressman (Bob Etheridge), and a state representative (Bill Faison) in the Democratic primary. I think it's a good idea that Miller run for LG and the only Democrat who has announced for the seat is a virtual unknown. Miller has name recognition and would have a great chance of holding the Lieutenant Governor post for us. He could also run for State Labor Commissioner or State Agriculture Commissioner, which are both currently posts held by Republicans.
Heath Shuler can also do the same thing. He can run for LG, SAG, or SLG. But, I think he is just going to retire. Brad is more seriously thinking about staying politically involved than Heath. I'd prefer to have Brad, personally.
