I know we've had lots of dire warnings about Iran. I've been wondering since late 2001 when we would start bombing Natanz. Over the last six years, much has happened that made attacking Iran impracticable. Now, however, we're at a point where attacking Iran might actually look appealing to those who are about to lose power, from Bush to his party to the neocons.
I did not speak until I thought an attack was likely. I claim no special knowledge. I have cited all my sources. To all of you who think I'm being silly and stupid, I hope you're right. To anyone who thinks I'm pushing this line for partisan reasons, consider how much an actual attack on Iran would hurt the Republicans. If things limp along as they are, the Republicans can blame the inevitable Democratic president for anything that goes wrong. But if Bush unleashes hell on his way out the door, he will own the disaster, and the disaster will own the Republicans, for all time.
