Amsterdam asks in his diary today:
minor update: I'm just wondering whether we should push the 'clueless / lost his bearings' narrative, the 'elitist / out of touch' line, the 'McCain says economy is great' line, or what... I'm having fun reading your additions below :)
My response: a resounding affirmative to just being old.
This weekend I spent time with both my mother in law and my mom. Both registered voters in their seventies who live in a swing state.
The lifelong democrat will vote for McCain. They have been virulently anti-Bush and anti-Iraq war. But they were a Hillary supporter and still believe that "Obama came out of nowhere" and that McCain has more experience. I believe that race may play a roll here, and have no idea what would put this person back in the Democrat's camp.
The lifelong indendent who leans Republican will vote for Obama. Because McCain is old. They said it's hard being president and you need someone younger.
There you have it. Old means being confused about: your POW stories, your countries and thier leaders, how many homes you own, and not knowing the internet. And, are there pictures of John McCain's first wife, from 2008?
