I am a construction super working on LI and the 5 boros. All the jobs I do are big dollar and strictly union. This is a diary about how the trade unions are hurting themselves.

After the BP accident and ongoing oil spill there has been a lot of people saying "ya see, when are we going renewable".
I'm not a worldly person so maybe some of you can help me. In the area where I live the utility companies are privitly owned. A new power plant gets built the rate payers pay for it, grid upgrades the ratepayers once again. The electricity is sold, a profit is made and life goes on.
So the delima now is who should build the renewable energy plants? America is a capitalistic society so for the most part if a profit can't be turned no one will venture into it. Is this why there is no widespread funding of renewable plants?
