I will keep this prayerful and brief.
Last night, Hurricane Sandy struck the east coast. It was worse than anyone imagined. Actually, it wasn't. The National Weather Service and a lot of weather people (including posters here on KOS) nailed it. But for most of us who don't live in a Hurricane path, this is just unimaginable.
Can we, today, just today, not use this tragedy as a political bludgeon against our opponents? This is a human tragedy, not a political opportunity. Will the other side use it against us? I don't know. I don't care. My partner's job may have been flooded away last night with the storm. I have friends in New York City, and I don't know if they are still alive. That is what is important to me, and what should be important to all of us.
So I ask for this: just one day.
Can we please mourn our dead, and pray for the living, and worry in hope for those we haven't heard from, without any finger-pointing or blame.
thank you,
jim
