Lately I have noticed that more diaries seem to be nothing more than a brief intro paragraph and then a link to another site for the "real content". This is being used by comedy sites, but also by writers that have left KOS for one reason or another.
Do we care?
The Upbeat Jim part of me thinks, "Eh, sometimes they're funny, and who cares if they lure clicks away from KOS ... it's not like people are going to never come back to KOS. Some of it may even be interesting, or informative, or both."
But Debby Downer Jim is starting to say, "Wait a minute, out job here at KOS is to elect more and better Democrats. And even though your linked content may be liberal-leaning, how does it push that goal? It pulls people from KOS."
More to the point, the linked comedy may well be funny, but it isn't even always liberal comedy. Watching a guy running for office going door to door, also confessing he is a sexual offender, is just awkward. What does that have to do with KOS or our mission?
So what are people's thoughts here? There was a time when a paragraph + a link to diary on another site was an automatich HR. That isn't really the case anymore. But should it be? Thoughts?
NOTE: I'm not talking about writers who post their content here as well..they get full marks. I'm only talking about those that give a brief teaser paragraph, and then link you to another site for the content.
