“I was born a Democrat and I was raised A Democrat and I think all Republican’s grow horns.” is what my father would tell people who wanted to talk Politics with him, especially customers, as traveled the desert Southwest in an unairconditioned car in late 40’s and 50’s. It taught me that what it meant to “be” something — inherit not just a “theory” but an approach to life. It could change, I heard too that the older we got the more likely we would become a Republican because we would have “made it.” Or simply less comfortable with change.
Well, this comes to mind when I read Bernie Sanders (I-VT) -— NOT A DEMOCRAT — Yapping about what the Democrats have to do to win in the New York Times
Well Burnie, Shut-Up or Put-Up. Either you are a Democrat and willing to do the work and invest money in the party and it’s infrastructure to implement the things you believe in — or you are part of the problem. And right now Burnie Sanders is part of the problem.
In Virginia, where I live and where my son is a member of the House of Delegates, Marcus Simon (D-53th District) Sanders candidate, Tom Perriello, seems like a good guy, and I like his progressive values. But like Sanders, if you can’t implement your vision, if you just parachute in with no sense of place or process, then you don’t help. Let’s see if Tom, yes a Democrat, continues to stay involved in the campaign through the Fall and helps turn Virginia Deep Blue — or if he runs off to some place else to add another item to his resume.
What do Democrats really need to win? 1. Democrats and 2. Democrats who work in and with the Party.
