Netroots Nation Holiday Special
Let’s just get that done before I forget. You’ve got until Midnight tonight to register for the reduced Holiday rate. You should do it. Definitely.
You may know me. I’m a long time Kossack. As we used to say, I’ve been here pre-Scoop. So old. 10 years ago I went to the very first Yearly Kos, in Las Vegas. Back then I knew almost no one. In fact, most of that weekend through, I still knew almost no one. Because I was too shy to open my mouth. I missed everything! I missed out on the infamous Mark Warner party!
But on the last night I had the good fortune of running into a group of Kossacks on their way out to party. And they took me along with them. And they included me. I got to know some of the smartest, funniest, and nicest people.
I decided right then that I’d be back the next year. I also kept in touch with that group. And they introduced me to so many new people over the course of the year.
Since then, I’ve been to every iteration of Yearly Kos and Netroots Nation. I like to call myself an early NN adopter.
Every year, I come away feeling educated, energized, and refreshed in spirit. The panels are wonderful. Heck, two years ago, Governor Dean sat down and did a post mortem of his Presidential campaign. You had to be there. Pub Quiz? The best time to be had.
My favorite part is reconnecting with my fellow Kossacks. Hearing about the marriages, divorces, graduations, kids going off to college (after having known those same kids for years), deaths, you know, all the life events that happen in the course of a year. It means something to me to see these friends year after year. I means enough to me that I was literally the first person to register for next year. While it was being announced where we were going, I was on my ipad registering. It matters to me to be there.
You should come be a part of it. It’s far better than reading about it. Refresh yourself before the Democratic Convention. And prepare for the final push.
I promise you, you will not regret attending Netroots Nation.
