Obama is set to deliver the the commencement speech at Notre Dame.
I am trying to figure out why. Why would he do this?
What does Obama stand to (hope to) gain from this?
First the positives: I don't see any.
Now the negatives: Obama must have known that speaking at ND was going to be meet with a giant amount of protest. Republicans and religious people speaking out against Obama isn't anything new, but this is something that the MSM is going to be reporting on frequently. Online petitions are forming? ND students protesting? How many letters has ND recieved against the decision to have Obama? Will the faculty turn their backs on Obama? The Bishop said what? How many abortions where there last year? Will students boo Obama? etc etc etc
If you get away from the religion/abortion issue, some moderates might wonder if he doesn't have more imortant things to be working on than giving a speech.
Does anyone have an idea as to what they thought was going to happen? This is nothing but bad press, and it's a distraction.
