Nevada’s Dean Heller is one of the most endangered Republicans in the Senate, and he cannot have made his situation any better by calling sexual assault allegations against Supreme Court nominee a “hiccup.” Yes, a hiccup.
“I’m really grateful for the White House, for the effort of President Trump and what he has done, and the excitement that we have,” he said. “We got a little hiccup here with the Kavanaugh nomination, we’ll get through this and we’ll get off to the races,” he said.
That right there tells you how seriously Republicans are taking this. A credible allegation that, as a teenager, a Supreme Court nominee pinned a younger girl to a bed, turned up music to drown out her screams, covered her mouth, and tried to strip her clothes off is just a hiccup. It’s something that’s delaying confirmation by a few days but “we’ll get through this and we’ll get off to the races,” where the races are that same nominee denying millions of American women access to abortion or even the basic right to it.
That’s Dean Heller, it’s Donald Trump, it’s the entire Republican Party.
This is just one of the many reasons we need to beat Dean Heller. Can you give $3 to his Democratic opponent, Jacky Rosen?
