The in-fighting in the Trump White House continues as new firings and resignations are rumored to be imminent. Donald Trump is reportedly on the verge of firing Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Sec. Kirstjen Nielsen, no doubt sending someone to do the actual firing due to his pre-existing condition as a coward.
White House Chief of Staff John Kelly has long worked with Nielsen and Trump’s order to fire her appears to be the last straw for the former Marine general and Donald Trump doesn’t care. He wallows in the turmoil. From the Wall Street Journal:
White House officials also cautioned that Mr. Trump has considered changes to the administration in the past. The president often games out multiple staffing scenarios with advisers, including months of talking about whether to replace Mr. Kelly. While those discussions often signal impending changes, that is not always the case.
Even worse, this is standard operating procedure and Trump enjoys watching the loyalists battle it out for his attention. Look no further than this quote:
“This is how the president works,” one White House official said. “He’s doused a bunch of people in gasoline and he’s waiting for someone to light a match.”
This is the worst kind of leadership. By far. Trump operates on fear and bullying, a scenario that actually does endanger us as a nation. Instead of being focused on keeping this country safe, they are consistently drawn into bitter battles of clashing personalities and gross incompetence, constantly fighting for their jobs. The WSJ has another example of how these egos and personnel battles are consuming their time. Mira Ricardel, a deputy advisor at the National Security Advisor reports John Bolton is also getting fired after a squabble about plane seats with Melania Trump and staff.
The president became involved in that decision at the urging of first lady Melania Trump, whose staff battled with Ms. Ricardel during the first lady’s trip to Africa last month over seating on the plane and requests to use National Security Council resources, according to people familiar with the matter.
The everyday mismanagement and gross incompetence of this administration will definitely go down as one of the darkest chapters in American history. Every day they remain in office this nation is at risk. Period.
