Working With Us
The National Congress of American Indians (NCAI) is the oldest, largest, and most representative American Indian and Alaska Native organization serving the broad interests of tribal governments and communities.
The primary focus of NCAI's staff is to serve the membership of NCAI and sustain the organization as a leader in national tribal legislative affairs. The organization provides essential information and education on key policy initiatives, enhances coordination and consultation with tribal governments, and leads tribal advocacy efforts to unite tribal advocates to promote progressive, proactive Indian policy. NCAI staff also works to enhance relationships between tribal governments and the federal, state, and local governments in order to better meet the needs of tribal citizens and uphold the government-to-government principals that are essential to the autonomy of tribal governments.
The organization offers a range of opportunities to work as a member of the NCAI staff or to gain valuable professional experience as an intern or as a participant of the Wilma Mankiller Fellowship Program for Tribal Policy and Governance.
