Just yesterday I learned that Saddam had a terrorist training camp in Salman Pak that included, among other things, a Boeing 707 aircraft used for hijacking instruction. Fedayeen Saddam and non-Iraqi Islamic militants (possibly even members of Al-Qaeda) were trained to execute suicide bombings, plane and train hijackings and other terrorist activities. You can read an interview with a former Iraqi army captain about Salman Pak on
PBS.org.
This may be old news to many of you, but my question to the Kos community is, why hasn't Bush been waving this in everybody's face? You would think that since the Bush regime has been trying to convince the world (unsuccessfully) that attacking Iraq fit within the parameters of the greater War On Terror, they would be shoving a known terrorist training camp 20 kilometers outside of Baghdad down our throats.
So far Bush has tried to say that a weather balloon filling truck was a mobile chemical weapons plant (and it was legally purchased from the UK, right?), tried to pass a single vile of common bacteria as a biological weapons program (and it was legally purchased from the US), and tried to repeatedly assert that there was a meeting between a September 11th hijacker and Saddam's regime even though the global intelligence community has said that it is false.
Why aren't they using Salman Pak as justification for the invasion?
