He said he would do it, and he is doing it: Howard Dean is talking about race in this country.
Does anyone seriously think Howard Dean supports the worst notions behind the Confederate Flag? Of course not. So now we decide: are we adult enough to use certain words and phrases to start discussion and challenge people to think beyond stereotypes? Can no candidate tell groups with which he has differences to consider him as a candidate anyway? Isn't it possible that, represented by a President who gets them what they really need (health insurance, jobs, better education for their children) that people who previously demonstrated racism might begin to consider alternatives?
I am for a candidate who is not scripted. I am for a candidate who is not afraid of particular buzzwords or topics. I am for a candidate who demonstrates his own integrity, even as those fighting against him lose their own in doing so.
I am for Howard Dean.
