Reagan = Dean anology

i have been seeing many pro dean posters say the following

"when will people get a clue about "electability?" in 1980, all the Democrats wanted Ronald Reagan cause he seemed like this radical right wing doofus"

ironically deanites are totally missing the point
in 1980 we were going thru a similar period like now.. America was going thru hostage crisis and felt unsure about the world and disappointed with the leadership in White House in dealing with dangerous world (especially  after failed rescue Americans).

So Americans are scared and longing for tough leadership -- what do they do? elect a right wing republican.

it was fear of hostage crisis and world that ultimately got Reagan elected not anything to do with his economic policies.
