Colorado Results

The Colorado results are mostly in (Denver had final results within half an hour of the close of voting).

The highlights:

All three statewide issues have crashed and burned.  

The Gallagher Amendment, which states that 55% of property taxes will come from business and 45% from residential property will continue to apply, something that brought property taxes to a current 3.5-1 business to residence ration and could go more pronounced.

Slot machines will not be put in dog and horse tracks to pay for tourism.

Colorado will not take out 2 billion dollars of debt for water projects.

Lone Tree, a Southern suburban location, will join the metropolitan Denver, regional transporation district, facilitating the extension of light rail and express buses into the 'burbs.

Centennial, a newly incorporated city of more than 100,000 formed out of disparate subdivisions to avoid annexation will get the additional sales tax dollars it needs to avoid bankruptcy.

Boulder will continue to elect its city council at large, rather than by districts.

Denver Public Schools will get more money.  The City and County of Denver's employees will now have their salaries set by city council, instead of a survey of comparable salaries.  And, peace will not be increased by means of transcendental mediation in Denver.
