Gay ja vu, all over again is a great Diary entry by
MAJeff that I would like to see us all continue to discuss.
Please consider pushing it out onto the front page, or if Melanie, Kos, Meteor Blades or someone else can come up with something that is a culmination of research, that would be even better.
I would like to see a candidate-independent discussion of these issues (though Dean probably would take the biggest beating considering Vermont's Civil Unions, but it is also about Massachusetts, which is no-candidate's-land, but pretty Dem-centric).
Anyway, dang it, we haven't had a discussion about sexual minorities on the front page in a long time and I do think it will be an election issue against the Dems in the Nov. '04 election, but more importantly, it should be something that all candidates are serious about.
I won't accept another Dem candidate who screws us like Clinton did -- Don't Ask, Don't Tell, and Defense of Marriage Act both happened on his watch -- and the battle is going to be hot and heated.
We can either talk about it now, or talk about it later. I'd rather have us talk about it regularly throughout the next year. And keep tabs on the next Democratic (or Independent or Green or Republican) President. I would like to see an ombudsman for Sexual Minorities, and/or guest postings by movers and shakers in the GLBTQ community.
I'm serious. These are important issues.
(Likewise, I would like to see a similar situation set up for discussions on race and women's rights and several other issues that don't get regular (or much or any) attention at Daily KOS. Please also bring up any issues that you think need to be addressed at all, or more often. I know there is a big handful that I've forgotten.)
Thank you for listening to my plea and acting on it.
(p.s. There seem to be "sections" on Daily KOS, like War, Democratic Primary, Senate Elections, Governor Races, and Misc. I would like to see these update to include Religion, Sexual Minorities (or GLBTQ), Harm Reduction/Drug Policy, and many more, please add your own as well.)
Also, would I be better off emailing Markos with this or is it enough to agitate in the forums and hope that someone eventually picks up on it?
